John Frieda Luxurious Volume Fine To Full Blow Out Spray & Blow Dry Lotion Root Booster

Judge me if you like but being a stay at home mum means I perhaps don’t put the daily effort in when it comes to my hair as much as you may do. Often, you’ll find me covered in marmite from Jack’s toast and hastily putting it up in a bun – with such an active little boy, I don’t necessarily have the time to spend ages on my hair.

I was recently sent the Fine To Full Blow-Out Spray and Blow Dry Lotion Root Booster to try by John Frieda. John Frieda are a brand who I have had little experience of in the past so I was interested to see how well these products would work for me, going in with no expectations. Designed for fine hair, I wanted to see if they could give me the results salons can.
I am very wary of spraying product onto my roots as products can automatically make them look greasy, even if freshly washed. This is designed to be used on towel dried hair and I have been using this intermittently for the past month to see how I got on. When I am making an effort to go somewhere, even if I am just leaving the house to pop down the shops, I make sure to spritz this in freshly dried hair and see what happens. The product feels great, not too heavy and I’ve even had people asking if I’ve done something different with my hair – it is normally so lacklustre and lifeless that any change, even miniscule, can easily be picked up on. Very impressed with this – definitely had more volume around the roots without any greasy residue or frizz.

I haven’t used this product as much as the Root Booster but I have found similar results. To be sprayed throughout towel dried hair covering under sections and root area and combed from root to tip, I found this to be incredibly lightweight and didn’t leave any greasy residue as some products do. Whilst I won’t be using this everyday as there really isn’t any need for me to, I will be using these regularly when I want to give myself that little OOMPH.

Would I repurchase? I’m unsure. Whilst the products are quite good, I would be interested to see if I could get better quality at a lower price – after all, I love my bargains! Have you got any suggestions for similar cheaper products?

The John Frieda Luxurious Volume range can be found in Boots and all major retailers. The Blow Out Spray currently retails at £6.99 and the Root Booster at £5.99 but if you are quick, you can get both for £8 on the Boots website plus get yourself some Advantage Card points too…why not treat yourself?

  1. I'm always interested in how products affect your hair in the long run? I used to use a spray to prevent the 'frizzies' but I found in the long term it ruined the condition of my hair 🙁 I have heard great things about a hairdryer that has a brush at its end instead of the usual opening. I think my basic blow drying technique needs all the help it can get!!! (I cam here via the blog hope by the way!!)

  2. I use the shark styler with a brush on the end as it is quick and easy but a spray of something might help me too
