Embrace video
A physical party is probably not going to be an option in the near future, at least not if you don’t want to leave anyone out. It’s certainly not the same, but it still allows you to keep all the most important elements of your party: getting people together and celebrating your engagement. And as an added bonus, holding it virtually means that all of your friends will be more likely to make the event, no matter where they are in the world.
Create invites
You want your party to feel like a party, not just a casual video chat with friends. Make the night feel special by creating and posting custom invitations to all of your guests. Although an email invite might be quick and easy, it won’t create that sense of importance you’re after.
Provide refreshments
It’s not a party without a large quantity of delicious food and drink. You could simply ask people to bring their own snacks and beverages, but this isn’t in the party spirit. Everyone will be consuming different things and it won’t feel like you’re all at the same event. Even though you’re physically separate, you can still provide the refreshments. There are lots of companies who will deliver virtual catering for any kind of event. Send all your guests cocktail-making kits, gourmet meals, antipasto boxes, fresh pizzas, or whatever food you prefer to serve at your party.
Don’t forget the presents
It might sound awkward to ask people to send you engagement presents, but it’s not an engagement party without a few gifts. Ask people to post them to you in advance of the event so you can open them on camera in front of your friends and family.
When throwing an engagement party in lockdown, you will inevitably have to make a few compromises. But by following these tips, you can still celebrate your love for your partner and have a fantastic time with your loved ones.
