I like water…I just don’t drink enough of it. Give me the choice of water and something else and I will inevitably choose something else. I just find water so boring taste wise and when there is something else on offer, I’m going to opt for it. I want 2016 to be different though and that is why I am writing this post on how I am increasing my water intake.
I’m still on Slimming World and I really want to up my water intake as I know I don’t drink enough, sometimes I even get headaches from where I haven’t drank enough that day – this isn’t good at all!

First of all (and this is still in progress) I am cutting down on fizzy drinks. Back just before Christmas I managed about three weeks to a month without drinking a single fizzy drink. The festive season soon put paid to that and whilst I am drinking diet drinks rather than full fat due to being on Slimming World, I want to cut this right down to one a day and then down to none. Wish me luck.
Secondly I have taken to filling my large water bottle from Sweaty Betty every night to sip on throughout the night. I am so bad at not drinking in the night if I need to and I suffer for it in the morning. Even if I only take a few sips, its better than nothing and better than feeling horrendous for the whole day after.

If I fancy a bit of flavour, I add some fruit to my Infruition flavoured fruit infusing bottle for some fruit infused water. I’m still working out which recipes I like but I’ve found this really helps me to get some more water in me. I actually own the kids one – I was going to let Jack have it but he’s very fussy and doesn’t like fruit infusing in his water so I took it for myself. The size is obviously smaller than an adult one but I found it is the perfect size for me when I am going on a long walk and don’t want to carry too much. It can easily be carried or put in a pocket and it doesn’t leak either. You can see the Infruition range here, ranging in price from £12.99 to £15.99.
I also swap out a fizzy drink for water with my meals if I remember to. This is something new I’ve been trying and I’ve found I’ve really managed to up my water intake when doing this. I’ve also thought of some other ideas to try to increase my water intake – mark a water bottle with times where I have to have drunk a certain amount by a certain time, ban fizzy drinks from the house (never going to happen in this house!).
Have you got any suggestions for how I can increase my water intake even more?

Oh wow, this is EXACTLY what I need to do! Thanks for the inspiration! Yes, I need to use my lovely water bottle rather than leaving it in the cupboard! Great post!
I am trying to increase my water intake whilst at work. Luckily I’ve just moved desks + I’m right next to the water cooler!!
Luckily I’ve always been quite into drinking water as that’s all that was ever available to me growing up. I’ve been meaning to try infused water for like the longest time now. You can even add vegetables or herbal infusions like cucumber or mint leaves to your water. I wish you the best of luck on your eating/drinking healthy challenge.
I suffer terribly with my kidneys as I only have that functions correctly and the GPS and hospital consultants keep telling me to drink more water love the look of these because then I may actually drink water
I love fruit infused water but not as much as I love coca cola. I need to drink more water! ASAP!
I don’t drink enough at all. I know it’s icky but ever since I was pregnant I just get so paranoid that I’m going to need the loo so that doesn’t help matters. I try not to drink at night because I know something will switch in my brain and I’ll want to go to the bathroom even if I don’t need to. I get headaches though and I do feel better when I drink more!
Thanks for the inspiration. The fruit-infused water sounds lovely and I think I need a water bottle too!

I’m the same! I am so bad at drinking water… drink plenty of tea though!!! I don’t think I’d use that water bottle though – not keen on flavoured water.
I found the biggest increase to my water intake was having it ice cold. First keeping bottles or a jug in the fridge but now my fridge freezer has a water dispenser and I have a glass of water nearby at all times! Water tastes better cold, fact!
I need to increase my water intake . I like the idea of fruit infused water and I can’t believe how cheap the infuser is.
I am one of those annoying people who drinks loads of water. I love cucumber water and find it so much more refreshing x
I’m great at drinking water in the warm months, not so good in the winter. I’m really tempted by that Infruition bottle, might have to get one of those to try!
Ooh, I’ve been looking for a fruit infusion bottle for a while now, thanks for the tip!

Recently I have been drinking more water. When I go out for a coffee I always get a glass of water as well, or sometimes if I am with my husbandI just ask for tap water when he has a drink. Less calories than a cappuccino too.
I drink a lot of water as I love it but I also drink too much Pepsi max which I’m trying to cut back. Best way to hydrate yourself is to eat lots of foods which contain a lot of water already so eat plenty of cucumber, lettuce leaves, soups. The water stays in your system longer than just drinking water which can just go straight through you. As for drinking more water you could get one of those bottles which have the time of day on so you know that you should have drunk this much by that time (or a sharpie and Evian bottle diy) my favourite way to ensure I drink my 2L a day is fill a 2L bottle in morning then pour my water from there, gives a good visual of where you at 🙂 good luck x
