As winter is finally upon us, it is inevitable that we all need a good winter coat and raincoat or even the two combined as one. We were recently sent a raincoat from Holly and Beau to review, the Space raincoat (RRP £49.99), to tide Jack over the winter period.
We actually received this quite a while ago but have been waiting for some proper rain in order to do the review justice – we’ve never been wanting rain so much! Typical that it has been really sunny and nice the past few months though.
There’s something a little different about this raincoat though…
IT’S A COLOUR CHANGING RAINCOAT!
Yes, that’s right – this raincoat changes colour when it comes into contact with the rain – what a cool idea! Jack is a major space fan so when this arrived, he was eager to try it out but we resisted until recently.
The outer part of the raincoat is designed to dramatically change colour when it comes into contact with the rain whereas the inner lining is a soft polyester fleece, enabling the child to keep warm no matter what. I tend to find it difficult buying winter coats for Jack – they either have no waterproof element to them at all, making them useless in the rain OR they are waterproof but provide no warmth whatsoever. This raincoat ticks both boxes and whilst it could be said that the colour changing element is just a gimmick, it is a good gimmick – one that kids will love and want for themselves.
It was quite funny the first few times he wore this out in the rain – even my Mum remarked upon it, asking if the colours were running when she first noticed it start to change. Once she realised what was going on though, she thought it was a fantastic idea. Ranging in sizes from 3-4 years to 11-12 years, the Holly & Beau raincoats are perfect for winter – giving you as the parent piece of mind and them as the child something cool to show off to their friends.
I’m very impressed – this coat kept him dry and warm and he also wanted to keep the coat on – normally I’m fighting with him to keep a coat on when we go out. Top marks from me.
