Harry Potter Magical Capsules | Review

This item was sent for the purpose of review. All thoughts and opinions are our own.

I’ve mentioned before that Steve and I are big Harry Potter fans. Have been since we were little and still talk about it all the time now. Jack is finally of the age where he is really getting into it – he has seen all the films, he’s currently reading the books and we’re currently on book 3 (Prisoner of Azkaban) on Audible in the car (the kids love listening to it!). We were recently offered the chance to review one of the Harry Potter Magical Capsules.

So what can you expect?

These offer a brand new way to unbox and collect your favourite characters from the Wizarding World. Each bronze crest contains an iconic character from the Harry Potter series. This is Series 1 and there are ten characters to collect with one rare character to collect – each crest comes with a collectors card so you can see what characters are available to collect.

Inside each crest is 7 different magical surprises. you will find a Hogwarts character, a Fantastic Beasts pet, a wand and accessories. Some of these accessories require colour coding, heat or water reveal! This makes the unboxing experience even more fun as you open up each small compartment before gearing up for the big reveal.

As you can see they all come packaged in Hogwarts letter print which really made Jack’s day. It is those little touches that really make something special and this really made the experience even more magical!

Let’s take a look at the clues as you slowly find out what character you get…

  1. Which house is your character in? Use the heat reveal on the house crest to find this out!
  2. What spell do they use? Dip the paper in water to reveal all!
  3. What Fantastic Beast pet is inside?
  4. What accessory is there?
  5. What other accessory is there?
  6. Open up to reveal their wand
  7. Finally the big reveal….

So who did we get and what did we think?

As you can see, we got Harry Potter, his owl Hedwig, a wand, an envelope (his Hogwarts letter perhaps?) and his trunk. To the front you can see the two bits of paper. Now as we knew there would be heat and water reveals we expected these items to be part of the 7 magical surprises but others who are new to unboxings and clue reveals may not realise that these make up two of the seven.

We would have done the reveals before pulling out Harry but the kids got super excited before we got a chance. So what did they reveal when we did heat them up (the house crest) or dip them in water (the spell)?

That’s right – the red of Gryffindor and Expelliarmus (perhaps one of my most favourite spells!). Jack was very happy to see all these items and very happy to get Harry from his first ever Magical Capsules unboxing. He has already requested that we get him some more so he can complete his collection!

These Magical Capsules really do have it all – the magical unboxing fun for kids and adults alike, fun clue reveals and the awe and wonder of building up a collection. We definitely will be picking up some more and hoping to complete the collection and have them on display in our display cabinet with our other collectables.

These are available now at Kap Toys and will be available in all major toy stores and Tesco from mid July. They cost £9.99 which I think is a fantastic price for a collectable!

  4. Love that these are so interactive with lots to do other than just a toy. Though the randomness factor means getting the set will be a struggle. Unless there is some other way to tell which you get on the box?
