First thing you should know is that (like the name suggests) this can be used anywhere as it is a portable blind – perfect for holidays and when your child stays with family. It is adjustable and sticks to the windows with suction cups. Pretty simple, right?
The pattern on the blind is absolutely gorgeous. Rather than being a plain boring blackout blind, they’ve put a moon and star pattern on which works perfectly well with a child’s nursery or bedroom. I had to enlist Steve’s help in placing the blackout blind as Jack’s window is just a little too high for me to have been able to place the top suction cups.
We did encounter a slight problem as Jack’s bedroom windows are a little longer than most and I wasn’t sure that it would fit length ways – which it didn’t, proved below. We soon amended that though with some new ideas but this wouldn’t necessarily be a problem for most people – the windows in this house are just abnormally long for some reason! We did find the blind to be a little too long width ways but the blind has handy little velcro tabs for this very reason.
We had a little play around, moving it about and testing out the velcro pads – making it too long and too short, as shown above. Eventually we had to let the smallest amount of light creep in as Jack could not stand the total darkness at bed time (even if he did have the landing light on).
We are hoping to progress to no crack of light at all in the next few weeks but even with the small sliver we now have, Jack’s sleeping pattern has improved. So much so that he almost didn’t get up for pre school the other day – I went downstairs to do his lunch and thought I would have a quick cup of tea and watch some TV whilst waiting for him to get up. I suddenly noticed the time and realised that if he didn’t get up soon, he would be late! Oops. Considering this child is normally up way before that time and really excited for pre school – I would say that the blackout blind was a success, wouldn’t you?
We are thinking about taking it on holiday with us soon too as we think it will be really useful then too. Do you use a blackout blind at all?

I currently have blackout curtains, but they seem to make me sleepier in the summer as I wake up thinking it is still dark. I just can't win!
