This past Friday, Jack and I had a day out with my friend Laura. We took advantage of the sunshine (despite the earlier rain storm) and managed to fit in a trillion and one things in just one day.

Jack had a great time going around with his clipboard, attempting to find certain things. I found it fascinating. I haven’t visited the museum since primary school but I’ve always had an interest in Roman history, especially living so close to a city steeped in Roman history itself. It was nice to see the museum through my eyes as an adult rather than a child at primary school.
After our trip round the museum, the Splash Park was the place of choice (I didn’t take photos as there were tons of other children milling around in their swimming costumes). Jack wasn’t too keen at first but soon started to enjoy it, having a tantrum when we had to leave.
Finally we took a walk through the wildlife gardens before stopping off at The Waffle House for a quick drink and a small bite to eat. I could eat my Banoffee Waffle all over again, honestly!
Overall, we had a super fun day and it was nice to do some free stuff around my local area – I never realised just how much free stuff there was to do in St Albans and I am looking forward to finding more!

You're so close in location to me! I'm from Watford, and I still have never been to the waffle house. I need to make a trip soon! 🙂 x
Local museums like this are very underrated . It sounds like you had a great day out as a family. The Waffle House looks a great end to a great and cheap day!
What a fantastic day out! Love the sound of the Waffle House x
Ohh the waffle house looks yummy!
Wow how big is Jack getting! It sounds as though you had a great time x
It looks like you had a fabulous day out and how amazing does that waffle look???!!
That does look like a good day out – I've been to see the ruins before, but not the museum.
Oh my goodness, I am so jealous, you went to the Waffle House. We moved from Herts 2 years ago and I miss that place. Mich x
Wow, it looks like you had a really fun packed day. I have never been to a waffle house, that looks very tempting.
It's amazing how much stuff you can miss in your local area. It took me over 17 years to visit the free art gallery!
That looks like a lot of fun and what a great way to end your lovely day x
That is my idea of a perfect day, museums, fun in the park and something sweet. Must look up the museum, that's a new one for me.
Wow what a busy day you had, we live very close to St Albans but never visited the museum. I hope the geese didn't scare Jack too much. P.S i love the look of that Banoffee waffle 😉 X
Haa haa love him all dressed up – looks like a fab place to visit
