Now that a new year has come around, that means one thing – a new Goodreads reading challenge! Last year, I set myself a goal of 50 books which I managed to surpass in the summer. In 2015, I actually managed to read a grand total of 118 books – and that was with some massive reading slumps.
With that in mind, I am attempting to read 125 books this year. It should be achievable as I would certainly have managed it if I hadn’t hit so many reading slumps throughout the year. I don’t really have a particular genre I will be sticking too, no real reading resolutions as such except to get both my physical TBR and Kindle TBR down somewhat and to donate any books I no longer want to keep (read or unread) to local charity shops.
The stats for my 2015 Goodreads reading challenge are quite interesting, showcasing that I read almost any genre, almost any length. I did find myself reading a lot of cosy mysteries last year but I find them really easy reads and I really enjoy them – so why not? They probably helped boost my total a lot too – but it doesn’t matter if your book is 200 pages long or 900, its still a book and can be counted towards your challenge.
I am considering writing a post at the beginning each month, wrapping up what I’ve read and my thoughts and updating you on how I am getting on with my Goodreads reading challenge, keeping me accountable and giving me something to look back on at the end of the year. Wish me luck!
