My Goodreads Challenge

You may remember me setting myself a Goodreads challenge at the beginning of this year. I wanted to read 50 books in 2015 – a number that would take me past the amount read in 2014. I realised that I haven’t mentioned it recently nor have I mentioned one very important thing: I have completed my Goodreads challenge!

Does this mean I am stopping? Of course not! I am currently 42 books ahead of schedule apparently (despite surpassing the target set for myself) and as it stands I have read 75 books so far this year. I am certain I can make that at least 100 by the end of the year and this is a number I will be proud of. I haven’t been rushing, I’ve been reading at a leisurely pace but I have been giving up on books if I just can’t get into them. This is something I try to avoid and I do give them a substantial amount of time to interest me before giving up.

I’ve found that setting myself reading plans for the month ahead has really helped me with my Goodreads challenge and I may continue to set more reading plans going forward.

Did you set yourself a Goodreads challenge – if so, what was your target? How are you getting on?

  1. I keep meaning to get going with Goodreads as I’ve got an account but just haven’t used it to it’s full potential as yet. Which I’m surprised about as I love reading.

I’m definitely going to set myself a challenge for 2016. It’ll be brilliant to see and keep track if what I’ve read as I always loose track.

I think at the moment I’m getting through at least two books a month, I wish it was more but my little boy keeps me busy during the day so only tend to read at bedtime – if I’ve got the energy.

I will definitely add you to my list on Goodreads.

  2. Well done, I used to love sitting down and reading a good book, but these days I find I just don’t get the chance. One day I will get back to my books

  6. Welcome to Bookaholics anonymous for those who can’t stop reading aka I am part of this group. I have over 1,000 books and I am a fast reader too well done for achieving beyond your target you are doing well.

  7. Wow, that’s put me to shame because I haven’t read a single book this year haha! Unless you count kids books? 😉 How do you find the time!?! x

  8. I’d be lucky if I read one book. I never find the time to read a book other than university books. Good luck on hitting 100 books!

  9. Oh wow how amazing – I thought I was doing well with reading my 12 books this year! I wish I could read more. I did set my own target of 12 books and I am currently on 14 so I am happy with that =) Can’t wait to see how many you have read by the end of the year

  10. This is brilliant Bex 🙂 I haven’t been able to sit down and read properly since I had Oscar back in 2013 – he’s a little whirlwind and needs a lot of attention! I might have to give the GoodReads Challenge a try next year though.

  11. Wow! I really envy people that blog, and still have time to read too. My whole spare time is spent reading other blogs and attempting to “network” I have not even read one book this year for me BUT countless children books!

  12. 75 books. Wow. I set myself a reading challenge at the beginning of the year. But haven’t really stuck to it.

  13. Not heard of it but tempted to start I have a long list xx
