I’ve been blogging now for six years and my blog has seen many changes since I first started. From blogging only once every few weeks to posting every day, from beauty blogging to parent blogging to the strange mix I have now which I would say is parenting and lifestyle, I’ve seen it all. I’ve made friends five or six years ago who are still my friends today, I’ve made new blogging friends just last year. But what I really seem to have neglected recently is the community aspect – not through any fault of my own – but I miss it.
Gone are the days when I would go to all the blog events or manage to drop in at almost every Twitter chat. Whilst Jack getting older sure did make it easier to attend these things in real life and virtually, once he started school that was it – I needed to be around for drop off and pick up if Steve was working and that was that. Now that Olivia is here, it’s even more difficult to attend things unless Steve’s off work or my mum or in laws are available to have the children. I do manage the odd local meet up but even then sometimes I struggle.
One of my long term blogging friends Em from Love Emily XOX and I have often talked about branching out a little – we’ve arranged local blogger meetups in the past with great success as have other local bloggers but living so close to the capital we’ve been thinking about arranging some meetups in London with some of our close blogging friends who don’t happen to live that close by. London is somewhere all our blogging friends are willing to travel to so to meet up in the summer. we’d be looking for venues in London with outside space so we can enjoy a drink and a chat in the sunshine without having to worry about childcare or other commitments.
I’m determined to get back into the blogging swing of things, both in real life and online, and I think arranging a summer meetup with my closest blogger chums would be just the ticket to getting me actually leaving my desk again. I also want to get back into Twitter chats when I have the time – but I don’t know when they all are anymore! I’m sure I’ll find out though. Wish me luck!
