Finally Making Progress

Progress. It is a funny word, isn’t it? I struggle to make progress sometimes, getting stuck in a rut and not knowing how to get out of it. I’ve written posts on beating blogger burnout and what to do when you lose your mojo and I’ve been suffering from it ever since I got back from Paris. Both my freelance work and blogging have taken a hit but I finally seem to be clawing my way out of the hole and can actually see light at the end of the tunnel.

It has been non stop recently. Now that Jack’s properly settled in at nursery school, I’m trying to get adjusted to the small amount of time I have available to work in. Unfortunately housework also has to take precedence when Jack is at school (much easier to do that way) and for the past few days I have found myself working whilst Jack is at home – and not when he is in bed. I try to do my work around him so that I can spend time with him, one to one. It doesn’t help that Steve has to use up all of his holiday before the end of the year so he is at home quite a lot, often getting in the way. Don’t get me wrong, I am loving him being at home but it does little to help my mojo – it is all too easy to sit on the sofa and catch up with the DVR instead.

But these past few days I have been making progress. I have been catching up with most of my emails (still a few to go), getting some work done that I was putting off and actually getting ahead of myself. I’ve even bought myself a website to showcase my freelance work – it is something I’ve been meaning to do for months now but kept putting off. Now I can get it up and get working on it.

I’m feeling a lot more positive now I’ve got myself out of this rut. I’m seeing more work come in which I’m happy about – more work means more money, more money means more to pay off debts and/or save. I can’t wait to see what the rest of this year will bring.
