An MOT is so important and we all know that we have to get our car checked yearly – and often dread the thought! Last year we luckily managed to pass first time but we saved enough money to cover any eventuality after the horrendous MOT of 2015 – I’m still paying it off of my credit card!
Motorparks have created this fabulous infographic with an essential pre-MOT checklist. It tells you the main reasons why a car may fail an MOT – lighting and signalling being top of the list. There are so many things to remember when it comes to our cars and so many things that could cause us to fail an MOT.
Our failed MOT came off the back of us purchasing a used car – they did all the checks before we finally picked it up but just months later had numerous problems – something just didn’t add up. For now, if we decide to opt for a used car, I am more likely to check out the Motorparks Used Car Hub as it is a brand name I know and recognise and I can be assured that they will carry out the relevant checks and all will be okay.
As Steve is the driver in our household it never occurred to me that there was so much that needed to be checked before an MOT -and that should really be checked on a regular basis anyway! We all know about the obvious like our lights, brakes and suspension – but how often do you remember to give your registration plate a wipe over? I bet it isn’t that often?
What things have caused you to fail your MOT before? Is this checklist a helpful resource for you?
