Debts May Be Holding You Back, But Be Aware Of Where They’re Coming From!

Bills and debts add up. However, when we are younger, we may fail to look at the implications of this and not realise that our debts are adding up even in our younger student years. Once we move into work, we are earning money and things seem to be just fine, but sometimes the debts can creep up and it can pose a serious threat to your livelihood. Here are just some ways that the debts can start to build up over time:

  • Car insurance – if you are still paying off your car, or you’re thinking of owning a car, you must realise that all the costs that come with a car such as MOT and insurance will add up.
  • Mortgage advisor fees – if you want to buy a home, then you will need to provide lots of information about your income, your savings and you will definitely need to put down a deposit. Often it is around 10% of the house or less in some cases, depending on price. The mortgage advisor fees and other related fees can add up.
  • Credit Cards – if you own a credit card, then you must be sensible and be able to repay. If you don’t repay, then this will get you into debt and the repayments will become higher and higher. Also try to pay off a relatively hefty payment each month to avoid a build up of interest as this can mean accumulating more debt. 
  • Bills – bills are something we all have to pay but it can also get us into debt. Maybe you don’t fully appreciate the amount of money you may have to pay if you don’t yet own your own home but it’s a lot. From taxes to bills and repairs and insurance, it is a lot. You will want to be sure that you have things budgeted well to avoid debts. 
  • Student bills – if you’ve studied at university, then you will probably have some student loans to repay! Education fees are very expensive and often they are worth it, but you will have to pay it back. Student debts are one reason why many people choose not to go to university which is a huge shame. Student debt is one of the most common debts and there are ways to get help with repayments, so be sure not to fret.
