Dating After A Loss

Collaborative Post

The dating scene can be extremely daunting when single even if there are no other things to consider. But what about dating after a loss?

After people lose their partner, some choose to get back out there quite quickly whilst others take their time. Some don’t even date afterwards as to them, nothing could match up to their previous partner.

My Dad passed away in January 2017 so he has been gone for almost five years. Whilst my mum has never said it directly to me, I know she has been umm-ing and aah-ing over potentially stepping back into the dating scene. From what I can gather, she has mentioned it to a mutual friend but is yet to discuss it with me.

Did you know there is actually a whole dating scene out there for widows and widowers? The Widowsorwidowers.com site is the longest running dating site for widows and widowers in the UK. With widowers and widows dating once again, there needed to be a decent site that they can use. The site is also available in the US, Canada, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa which is great!

It has over fifteen years’ experience in online dating. The people who use the site all understand the importance of stepping back into the dating world at your own pace and meeting people who can relate to what you are going through.

As I mentioned above, some are ready to take this step before others. It has been almost five years for my mum and that doesn’t even mean she is going to start dating again then. But I know of people who met someone quite quickly afterwards and have been happily with them ever since. Only those who have suffered a loss can understand that timings can be different and sometimes those timings might seem a little strange to those looking from the outside.

With my Mum potentially stepping foot back onto the scene, I want to be able to help her prepare herself. She is a complete techno phobe so I would have to help her anyway but the Widowsorwidowers.com site is the perfect place for her. It has an easy to use platform and the algorithms help suggest matches based on location and shared interests. Like many people, she has some obscure interests so it would be great to find someone who shares those with her.

Whether my mum is looking to find love again or simply looking for companionship with someone who likes the things she does, I want to help her be well equipped and not find it as daunting as we all know it can be. If she does choose to see what’s out there, I want her to enjoy herself and not find it to be a horrible experience. Thanks to this site, I believe she will easily be able to find someone who is right for her. Her chatting in a safe and familiar environment is so important to me as her happiness and welfare is of the utmost importance to me.

Do you know someone who has dated or is looking to date after a loss? How would you help them to better prepare for re-entry into the dating pool?
