We were gifted with a selection of magazines in exchange for this post.
My kids love being creative. If it is crafty, it is right up their street. We were recently contacted and asked if we would like to review the Creative Steps magazine, a magazine helping kids learn through creative play, with many crafts making use of recycled house products. We were kindly gifted with a subscription and a few back issues to help us get a feel for the magazine.
With plenty of crafts and activity ideas in each issue, this magazine is perfect for kids and is published seasonally, four times a year. It is published in both print and digital editions and has around 60,000 readers. You can purchase physical copies from Hobbycraft or read digitally on platforms such as Readly and Magzter. An annual print subscription is £29.80, which includes postage and free access to the online editions too.
So what did we think?
The kids have been checking out the magazines and are loving the varied crafts and activities. There are sections for different age groups from 0-5, 5-7 and 7-11 years. There are also special features each month, regular postings and even plenty of competitions for young ones to enjoy.
The crafts are all explained in an easy to understand way for the age group they are suitable for (obviously adults will have to read the instructions for those aged 0-5). Jack has already found plenty of crafts that he wants to do and what’s great is he will probably be able to find the materials he needs around our house to do them too!
When the days are as rainy as they have been lately, crafting ideas are always welcome so we have been giving some a go and have plenty more on the to do list. 
Jack has enjoyed flicking through the magazines and can’t wait for the next issue. He can often be found with his head in a copy, choosing what crafts he is going to do by himself or do with his sister.

The cheese box crabs are a fantastic idea, we love to try and use packaging for crafts and cheese boxes usually end up as wheels so this is a great alternative idea.
