They say that everyone has their favourite jewelry, Whether you like wearing rings, necklaces or bracelets, you nearly always have a preference. The same can be said for the type of metal used – everyone has a particular preference. Whilst I don’t mind gold or white gold jewelry, silver has always been my metal of choice and this is definitely showcased in my collection of jewelry.
I don’t wear too much on a day to day basis – the only jewelry I can honestly say I wear daily is my engagement ring – but when I do decide to put on some sparkle, I nearly always opt for something silver. The locket my Dad bought me when I was a child? Silver. The necklace my nan left to me? Silver. My entire brooch collection save a few? Silver.
That being said I’m feeling the need to update my jewelry collection. As the years have gone by, I’ve gifted older pieces that no longer suit me and I am now left with those pieces you only wear for special occasions or the heirlooms that you don’t wear at all. I want to have some jewelry that I can actually wear day in day out should I wish to. I’ve been taking a look at different jewelry websites to see what they have – many sell all different types of jewelry – from charm bracelets and charms to pendants and rings – and they even have a section for children!

One of the big problems I find when it comes to choosing the right jewelry for myself is finding jewelry that not only suits me but that I can look after – I must admit that knowing how to properly care for my jewelry seems to have passed me by and it usually falls to Steve or a professional to do it. I’d love to know how though and the tips to keep your jewelry looking great has proved every so helpful! As I mentioned before, I wear mostly silver when I do wear my items and silver can tarnish so easily so it is so important to look after it properly and keep it looking as great as it can. As I’m bound to be buying more sterling silver pieces in the future, it is essential I know how to care for them myself – I can’t rely on other people all the time, can I?
I’ve been taking a look at the different items available and am in awe at all the different designs. Not only that but the prices are super affordable too so I could pick up a few items at a time rather than just the one. The children’s jewelry section is just as great – lots of fantastic designs at affordable prices – and whilst Olivia is far too small for jewelry right now, it is good to know that there is somewhere I can go to pick up some items when she wants a little bit of sparkle – after all, most girls love to dress up like princesses don’t they and all princesses need some pretty jewelry to set off their look?
Choosing the right jewelry for myself has always been difficult. I’ve read that metals like white gold and platinum are easier to maintain compared to silver. But I either can’t find something that I like, something that suits me or something that I can afford. I only very occasionally spend out on something a little more expensive and that is only if I really like it. Having a place to visit to buy jewellry items that I not only like but can actually afford? That’s a big plus point for me and I’ll definitely be picking up a few items to wear in my day to day life soon. I’m bored of wearing the same things day in, day out.
What jewellry do you wear on a day to day basis? Do you have a specific metal you prefer?
