I’ve mentioned before how great we think Casdon products are. We recently reviewed the Casdon Dyson Cord Free Vacuum Cleaner and today we’ve got a review of the Casdon Shopping Basket and Chip & Pin Till.
Now, like most kids, my children love shopping and I often find the most random things popped into the shopping trolley or basket. This can be quite stressful for us as parents though, as you can imagine. Both my children also love using my card to pay for things in shops so when the opportunity to review this toy came along, I knew it would be something they would both enjoy playing with.
The Chip & Pin Till comes with a fully functioning till with both a working till roll and a calculator, two ‘credit cards’ with different PIN numbers for each, some paper money and plastic coins and a selection of play food tins and boxes. It also comes with the stickers you need for the till – ‘remove card’ etc.
The Shopping Basket comes complete with both the basket and a vast selection of play food boxes and items that everyone would include in their weekly food shop.
So what did we think? Well the kids have had great fun testing it all out, playing shops together and picking up the items they need.
The kids loved rolling up to the till and paying for the items in their basket; sometimes they would choose cash and other times they used the chip and pin machine which actually lets you know if you have got the pin correct. Jack especially loved using the calculator to add up on the till and has been taking great care with the coins to make sure he is giving the correct amount – it has really been helping with his maths skills.
The shopping basket contains so many different product boxes and what we loved about this was that they actually featured real, true products. So often these toys have the most basic of labels but these boxes were of Mr Kipling, Birdseye and Findus products among others.
Overall, I’ve been very impressed with the Casdon Chip n Pin Shopping Till and the Shopping Basket With Play Food. They really help to inspire imaginative play and I really did love the fact that the shopping basket came with products that actually resembled real life products. After all, children often want to be like us so having products that resemble what we have in the cupboard and freezer in real life is quite fun!
The only thing that I think could be improved was the chip and pin – it makes just a couple of beeps and lights up and that’s it. It would be great to see a little extra from it – perhaps a voice saying PIN incorrect or something like that to make the toy really involving. Other than that, this is something my kids have been playing with constantly and I can see them playing with it for many years to come.
Looks like something I may have to buy for one of my nieces this Christmas! Thanks for sharing.

I do love the chip and pin machine, I bought my nephew a similar one years ago and felt it could be improved too.
I used to have an old fashioned till as a kid, but never as much tech as this. I still loved it though x
What fun! My kids would have loved this when they were little. They’re all big now though and use real cards, lol!
Mia is obsessed with Kitchen play and tills at the moment at nursery and I was thinking of getting her some food boxes and things at home! I really love the shopping basket it brings back fun memories that I had as kid. Will be adding these to Mia’s christmas list.

My absolute favourite toy when I was a kid was a toy kitchen with toy food. If I had a little till to add to my collection I’d have been the happiest kid ever!
