Buddies Toothpaste | Review

Over the past couple of months, Jack has been trialling a brand new product – Buddies toothpaste – which is a brand new tooth brushing system for children aged 2 and up. Jack has always been very fussy about brushing his teeth so anything that would make him endure it better was a plus from me so we eagerly agreed to review the products.

We are yet to try the special toothbrush but the range is made up of a dentist approved Buddies Toothpaste and Buddies Toothbrush, designed for children between the ages of 2-5. Unlike other strong flavoured or sickly toothpastes, Buddies toothpaste comes in two mild flavours, perfect for young mouths – Apple Fresh and Hint of Mint. We’ve been trying these for over a month now so here are our thoughts on the two flavours.

review

Jack has always been a little reluctant to brush his teeth. We’ve tried the various kids toothpastes out there and nothing seemed to make him happy so we were left wondering if it was the flavour that was the problem or something else. After using these, we have established that it is definitely the flavours of the other toothpastes that he dislikes.

We started Jack off with the hint of mint flavour to see how he got on. The scent of the toothpaste is divine and you certainly get a lot for your money in these long tubes. Jack particularly likes the design as he thinks the mint and apple heads are hilarious. The toothpastes themselves are a pump mechanism – no unscrewing of caps here, just pull the head off and pump out the amount you need. I have tried a little of each toothpaste on the tip of my tongue to see how different they are to normal flavours and the mint one really is a hint of mint. Just enough to get a flavour hit but not enough to have the effect that mint sometimes does and burn your tongue a little. Jack really seems to enjoy this flavour.

The pump mechanism helps to ensure you are only getting the amount of product you need rather than any wastage. I find with tubed toothpaste it is all too easy to squeeze out too much and then it gets wasted. This pumps out just the right amount for little mouths.

Although Jack likes the mint flavour, his favourite by a mile has to be the apple flavour. Apples are possibly his favourite fruit anyway so to be able to brush his teeth with apple flavoured toothpaste – he loves it! In fact, in recent weeks he’s been asking to clean his teeth every time he visits the bathroom just so he can use it!

Overall, we as a family are very impressed by Buddies toothpaste. The designs are funky and perfect for children as they are keen to see what they are, the flavours are great for children – subtle but effective and these have made my son much happier and willing to brush his teeth. Just look at the grin above!

You can buy the Apple Fresh toothpaste on Amazon right now but look out for the other products in stockists near you soon!

  1. These look awesome. I never really thought about the flavour of toothpaste until I had kids. I started my girls on akids one and luckily they loved it. Unfortunately I couldn’t find the same one the following month and oh God, the tantrums! Now I buy it direct from my dentist.
