Branston are one of those brands that I have known about for as long as I remember. It’s a brand my Dad has always bought and once I moved in with Steve, I found he was the same too – which was good as if he wasn’t, I would definitely have converted him! Lunchtimes consisted of cheese and pickle sandwiches or ploughmans with all the stuff they come with – and Branston always featured prominently. When I was asked if I would like to review some Branston products, I had to say yes to see just what other stuff they had come up with – I was sure I wouldn’t be disappointed.
I was sent five products to try – their Original Branston Pickle, Sweet Chilli Pickle, Caramelised Onion Chutney, Tomato & Red Pepper Hot Dog Relish and their Rich & Smoky BBQ Sauce. The BBQ sauce and the Sweet Chilli pickle are new to the range and we were very excited to try them!
We obviously knew what to expect from the original pickle. The brand and their products have been around since 1922 as specified on the label and never disappoint. Steve is trying to save it at the moment though as he is really enjoying powering through the newer items to the range.
We have been having the BBQ sauce a lot in toasted cheese sandwiches as well as the caramelised onion chutney – they both offer different flavour sensations but both hit the spot, a tasty quick treat in a matter of minutes. We use our £5 sandwich toaster from Wilkos – lay two slices of bread down flat, lay some cheese on both, spread either your BBQ sauce or chutney on another two slices, put them on top, place the lid down and voila – a quick tasty snack in seconds!
Steve has been working pretty much non stop recently and the sweet chilli pickle has been a popular choice when it comes to his sandwiches or salads. Combining two of his favourite things, Branston really have got it right with this – it tastes delicious and offers something a little different than the original pickle would.
Finally we have the hot dog relish- we’ve barely used this at the moment but it sure is tasty! We plan on using this at various BBQ’s across the summer – who doesn’t love a hot dog?
As expected, I was very impressed with the range from Branston especially the new products – I can safely say we will definitely be purchasing them all again in the future as these definitely don’t last too long in our house! Do you like Branston products?
We were sent the items for an honest and unbiased review.

I love me branston, the chunky definatly.
I dont like chilli , so that one is out for me, but he caramalised onion one sounds like something I would like to try 🙂
Yeah I definitely think the chilli would be an acquired taste for some!
I can’t get my head around sweet chili pickle but I so badly want to try it haha.
If you like sweet chilli, its definitely worth trying!
Mmmmm! Caramelised onion and soft goats cheese, on toasted ciabatta bread. YUM!!!! x
That sounds AMAZING!
We love branston pickle and are never without a jar in our cupboard.
Can’t beat a cheese and pickle sarnie, although I do like the sound of the chilli one too.
Today I tried Branston Original Pickle for the first time and I loved it. I thought it would be more sharp, but it’s delicious. It’s a great alternative to my roasted peppers on a cheese sandwich. I would love to try the rest of their range.
That hotdog relish looks INCREDIBLE. I am going to have to get some to try for my next family bbq! I love Branston Pickle anyway so surely this will be amazing!

My partner loves Branston pickle and over the years I have started to like it as well – having not grown up here it really is a British condiment. Perfect for summer BBQs!

The Caremelised onion chutney sounds delicious I’d love to try that in a toasted cheese sandwich.
Hot dog relish goes with so many things as does the caramalised onion but both hard to find in my local supermarkets
