Jen and Ruby have to overcome the secrets in their past while battling each other to discover the Hashtag Killer’s identity. Jen will have to choose between keeping her daughter safe or finding a killer, while Ruby will need to decide if becoming famous is more important than doing the right thing.
My Review
With social media being so prevalent, I could easily imagine something like this happening in real life. A killer, utilising a hashtag to boast about their crimes.
I really liked the character of Jen as she has her own problems from her past but doesn’t let that get in the way of being a good police woman. Dedicated to finding The Hashtag Killer and also sorting out the problems her daughter Abi is having at her school with bullies, she seems overstretched but never lets it exhaust her or stop her from doing a good job.
Ruby is a fascinating character who kept me interested throughout. Her desire to be famous – whether it was as an internet famous YouTube star or as an aspiring journalist – propels her into the public eye as her blog on the first murder goes viral, as does the tweet the killer sent. Is Ruby involved or is she simply being used because of a desire for fame?
I guessed the ending just before it was revealed and boy, was it a shocker! I had an inkling that all was not as it seemed but the way Jen put it together was amazing and fantastic police work. I really enjoyed this book and will definitely read more from the author in the future.

I really like the sound of this. It is such a relevant subject matter given that most people understand the power of a hashtag! Clever to tie in a murder mystery to modern social media,
