Motivation. What is the meaning of the word? Definition wise, it means a reason or reasons for acting or behaving in a particular way. To me, personally, it means getting my lazy bum in gear and actually doing something – and something has kick started that.
Motivation is a funny thing; it can come to you in the most peculiar places. Sometimes I really cannot be bothered to write that blog post that I know needs to go up today – but then I will be talking to someone about something which will set something off in my head and PING! I suddenly have the motivation to do that thing I needed to do – and more!
I am not going to lie. I need motivation in pretty much every aspect of my life – from getting up in the morning to finishing off a piece of work that is terrifyingly close to deadline. Yet I can find motivation in the craziest of places and even the craziest of people… Yes, I am looking at you Sarah, Helen and Beth..
Do I ever get annoyed that I lack motivation the majority of the time? Of course I do – but I am one of lifes procrastinators and adult life in some aspects has made me really lazy. If I can get by with leaving something for a little longer, I will and motivation is key in making sure I get things done when I should rather than leaving them.
Some quotes here pretty much sum up what I am trying to say..
It’s not the load that breaks you down, it’s the way you carry it.” – Lou Holtz
“Do you want to know who you are? Don’t ask. Act! Action will delineate and define you.” – Thomas Jefferson
What would you define motivation as?

Meh crazyyy I'm completely sane…
Sane as a person who has lost their marbles can be anyway 😉
I am definitely a procrastinator….. : )

Whenever I'm feeling a bit 'lost' or sorry for myself, I think back to 2009 when, following a bad fall I was out of work for almost a year & had to learn to walk again. I also finished a degree course even though travelling in a wheelchair is a pain in the wotsit. Although I subsequently lost my job & haven't worked in 2 years I keep telling myself 'baby steps, Kate, baby steps'. I'm not perfect by any means, or a hero, just me, plodding along doing the best I can (read hobbling for plodding)!
I like that you find motivation in other people. I'm the same, others can often spur me on when I'm feeling a little meh.
