Beauty | Benefit ‘No Competition’ Full Finish Lipstick Review

This post has been in my drafts now for so long… I actually don’t have this lipstick anymore, I gave it to my friend but I thought I would do a review nonetheless. You may be thinking that I obviously didn’t like it if I gave it away but read on to find out more.

I bought this lipstick quite a while ago when Amazon had a little sale on beauty items. I absolutely adore the beauty shops on Amazon, there always seems to be some fantastic deals going on! I can’t actually find this in the Benefit store on Amazon anymore which leads me to think it has been discontinued (it is from a 2009 collection after all) but it is available from another retailer right now for less than £14 – you can find the item here. I think I paid about £7 for this which is a pretty decent price for a Benefit lipstick as you can imagine!

The casing is simple and sleek, just a simple black packaging with the white Benefit logo and some decoration. Nothing too fancy but still pretty too!

In the bullet, it looks like a deep purple colour but actually swatches like a deep red colour, quite a berry shade. I love red shades when it comes to lipsticks but tend to steer clear of darker reds as I don’t feel they suit me one bit. The lipstick is a dream to apply, it is smooth and silky and only needs one slick to show some real colour.

Unfortunately, although I love the design and the application – I was right as I first thought. This colour is just a tad too dark for me – I am quite pale and this really washes me out. My friend is a little bit more tanned than I am and this really suits her, so not all is lost!

I would definitely recommend this lipstick if you are looking for a dark red shade but I would advise against it if you are super pale like me, it really won’t do you any favours!

  1. It's such a bummer when that happens, at least your mistake will help another steer clear in future. I have had a few like that, they've been way too light for me and I look sick xo

  2. I think dark lipstick besides red colors looks AWFUL on me. I can't pull off any wines or cranberry colors or anything, which sucks! I actually think this looks really nice on you though 🙂

  3. I'm not a fan of dark colours on me either, they make me look even paler than I am, which I don't need hehe!

What a shame it was too dark for you! I've never tried a benefit lipstick, but I do like the simple packaging xo
