It has been a long time since I reviewed a beauty/skincare product on the blog – I just haven’t been using that many new products or felt a need to blog about them. That was until this fell into my lap – the Avene Soothing Hydrating Serum, sent to me by Escentual. I have made no secret of the fact that I love Avene products and was even very lucky to win a large selection of some Avene products but unfortunately this wasn’t one of them. Luckily, I have had the chance to try it out so I could give my feedback.
First things first, the packaging. I adore the frosted bottle as I think it always looks so elegant on a product! I love that you can still see how much you’ve used which is always handy although it may be a nightmare to get the last few drops out. I always love pump bottles as it makes it easier to control how much product you are getting out.
Serum has always been one of those skincare items that I neglect – in fact, I didn’t even use one in my skincare routine until last year! Whilst I have only tried a handful, I do know what I like when it comes to serum and whilst this was a decent serum and was very soothing and hydrating like it claims to be, I have to say I prefer other serums in my collection to this. That isn’t to say this is a bad product and I no longer like Avene…far from it – but whilst the product worked well in hydrating my skin and doing what it was meant to…it didn’t wow me like others have.
