Steve and I like to be adventurous when it comes to food. If an odd food combination is offered to us, we are unlikely to turn it down. We’ve tried numerous things in the past including ostrich burgers and sausages. I’ve even tried persuading him to take me to the exotic meat restaurant the next town over..no such luck yet though!
We love trying out food from different cultures and this Mauritian hamper is no different. One of my friends comes from Mauritius and I can’t believe I hadn’t yet tried any food from his culture but that was to change with this box of goodies.
We haven’t tried everything in the box yet as we are planning a night round Steve’s parents where we can truly have a tasting session – why keep the goodness to ourselves? We aren’t big drinkers so the beer and wine will be saved until we visit – no matter how good they look right now. I mean, lychee wine sounds intriguing, right?
The vanilla teabags taste incredible and that is coming from someone who isn’t a big vanilla fan. Trying to cut out caffeine and stick to fruit based/herbal teas hasn’t been going so well but this may bridge the gap slightly for me and help me kick the habit once and for all.
The chilli sauces are great and a handy addition to our larder – I can see them being used often. What I am most looking forward to is trying out some recipes from Shelina’s recipe book – would this be something of interest to you?
