I mentioned a couple of days ago that I have plans for a new work schedule once I get back from my holiday. This will enable to me utilise my time better so that I can also spend more time with my family and friends but this will also hopefully help me bring in more income – after all, being more organised means I will be able to hopefully do more work,
I haven’t really worked out just how I am going to plan this just yet – I know I need to utilise the time that Jack is at pre school wisely in regards to work but I also need to do certain housework then too – but I’ve had some thoughts.
As well as sorting out a new work schedule, I also need to make sure my working area is good to work in. My sometime lack of blogging for the past few months has been because of computer troubles and has led to me considering giving up on my desktop and purchasing a laptop from Tesco Direct instead – I’m still unsure but I can’t work properly if my computer keeps having problems.
I need to tidy my desk and throw things away. I like to keep a nice and tidy desk but at the moment it is covered in post it notes, ripped out pages from notebooks, information sheets from PR’s, pens, blogging notes etc. I can’t expect to have a good work/life balance when I am not happy with the desk I am sitting that.
I also need to divide my time wisely between my blog and my freelance work. All too often, I find myself putting too much effort into one and not the other – usually spending more time on my blog than searching out freelance work and often losing out on perfect jobs because of it. I plan on scheduling posts once a week for all posts except those are time sensitive. This is the plan for both blogs as yet again Keene On Saving seems to have fallen by the wayside. This should leave me the days Jack is at pre school to complete any freelance work or time sensitive blog posts and answer emails – which are another thing I need to tackle. I need a day or two just to go through my emails and remove any that I no longer need or are of no interest.
I know getting a new work/life balance that works for me isn’t going to be easy to start with but I hope that by starting slowly but surely, it will be positive for me (and my bank balance) in the long run!
How do you juggle work, blogging and family in your household?
