A Good Night’s Sleep: Myth or Reality?

This is a sponsored post

I don’t really remember the last time I had a good night’s sleep- do you? Most people would say that they last had a good night’s sleep before their children came along – but I think mine was a long time before Jack was even thought of. I do get the occasional lie in but it is only a lie in because I was up until 3am working – meaning I am still not catching up! There are plenty of tips on how to get a better night’s sleep and I am starting to think that I need to take heed of them.

I am such a worrier and spend plenty of time worrying about the small things, rather than actually doing what bedtime is actually for – sleeping! I often spend ages on my phone playing games or chatting on Facebook and occasionally read too – I like to think of this as my down time when in reality it is nothing of the sort!

Life with Jack also makes a good night’s sleep seem almost impossible. He wakes up so incredibly early that my body feels as if it has just gone to sleep (probably not far off the truth either!) but yet I still can’t make the adjustment to earlier bedtimes and no technology which leads to me being counter productive and once again having to stay up late to finish something off. Working from home does have some benefits such as being able to take a nap if I really need to (something I like to do mid morning if I can!) but it also has its pitfalls – and it is always my sleep that suffers.

Do any of you suffer from the same problem? Can’t sleep, won’t sleep? Do you find yourself working to silly deadlines and compromising on something you truly need? I’d love to know your tips for a decent night’s sleep!

  1. Oh my goodness! I am horrible at this too. My sleep is always what suffers. For pete's sake, it's after 3 a.m. and I'm still awake. I will have kiddos awake in just a few hours. What am I doing?! Gah! I need to go to sleep!
