I was originally going to take pictures for this week’s Share It Sunday Post A Day In The Life but then I realised that despite it being my birthday week, the past few days haven’t been all that exciting! I mean – do you really want to see pictures of me helping my Grandad set up his new house phone? I think not! I decided instead to give you a brief overview of what a day in the life of a working mum can be like.
Depending on if Steve is working days or nights shifts, I can wake either at 5am and fall back to sleep for a while or 7am when Steve gets in and I get up with Jack. Occasionally when Steve goes to work on days or he is off, Jack may sleep in until 8-8.30. It is then time for a cuppa for me, some juice for Jack and breakfast for both whilst I check my emails and Jack watches some CBeebies.
Mid morning we either pop to the shops, pop out somewhere or just stay in – Jack generally plays for a while; I sometimes play too or I do some housework whilst I know he is occupied.
He generally has lunch before his nap but occasionally has it after so lunch and nap times vary day by day – that is even if he has a nap! I tend to use his nap times to get some more cleaning done or to get some work done.
Mid afternoon generally means more cleaning and occasionally some work getting done if Jack is happy playing by himself. If we haven’t gone out earlier in the day, it is unlikely we will go out now unless Steve is off work. This is generally our chill out time before dinner.
Dinner time varies around Steve’s shifts and whether Jack is having what we’re having. Sometimes I cook and sometimes Steve cooks.
After Jack has a bath and goes to bed, it really can depend how much work I get done. If Steve is off work, I tend to try and get as much work done in the daytime as I can – Steve spends time with Jack and it then means we have our evenings free. If Steve is on days, sometimes work takes a backseat for one night whilst we catch up with what is on our DVR. If Steve is on nights however, I seem to catch up with everything I was behind on!
As you can see, my day in the life is pretty boring – but I love it!
I decided to take pictures and do a time line ! I ended up forgetting lots of pictures like when we went shopping etc great post 🙂

I thought the exact same thing when I was documenting my day in the life. We don't do very much on a Saturday but we wouldn't have it any other way xx
