A Day At Woodside Farm, Luton

Despite living just down the road from the farm for all of my 25 years, I’ve only been to Woodside the once. Jack had been telling us that he wanted to go see the animals at the farm or the zoo for a few days so we thought we’d take him to visit the animals at Woodside in Luton.

Due to a lack of battery on my phone and camera (terrible blogger alert!), I didn’t get many photos of our trip but it was fantastic nonetheless.

There were a number of different activities available at the farm but not all were open when we went which was a little disappointing. There was a lovely little fairground set up but all of the rides were closed. However the trampolines were open and Jack took great delight in jumping around on them until we finally persuaded him to come off.

By far his favourite thing to do was to feed the animals. There were seemingly hundreds of goats although I know that is an exaggeration. We bought a bag of feed in the shop at the entrance of the farm and Jack loved feeding the animals. Goats, alpacas, ponies and camels were all fed by Jack. He loved telling us the names of the animals we had seen and his day was made when he realised they were doing tractor rides and he quickly dragged me on.

It was such a lovely day – we stopped for a bite to eat in the little cafe towards the end which had a fantastic soft play for little children – Jack would have loved to go and play but he was getting tired and there were some boisterous older children running around and not being too careful so we decided against it. We popped into the gift shop on the way out but only purchased Jack a small tractor toy and Steve some chilli jam – we would have bought the whole shop if we could have though!

Since coming back, Jack has been requesting to go again very soon – and has even expanded his sights to the zoo. Luckily Woodside is incredibly affordable (unlike Whipsnade Zoo) so we shall definitely be going again soon.

  1. What a lovely little zoo, it's a shame things were closed but I guess it is out of season. Jack certainly looked like he had a great time 🙂

  2. You looked like you had a fab day out. Them trampolines look great fun.
