Food & Drink, Reviews

Degustabox | January 2021

I was sent a Degustabox for the purpose of review. All thoughts and opinions are our own.

Don’t forget you can get your first box for just £9.99 including shipping with the code WDGX9 which gets you a £3 discount on the £12.99 price! Buy it here.

The theme of this month’s box is Breakfast & On The Go. So what did we think of the contents this month?

St Pierre Millionaires Waffle – £1 | St Pierre Brioche Waffle £1

We love a waffle in our house and these were really nice. A different way to enjoy waffles and perfect for a tea or coffee break as a quick bite or snack. These are available at selected Tesco, Sainsbury’s and WH Smiths stores nationwide.

Baker Street Rye & Wheat Bread – £1.69

My mum has bubbled with us and we gave this to her as it is a bread she really enjoys. Tasty, with low fat and high fibre, it is even super convenient by coming pre-sliced. Definitely repurchasing. You can even reseal the packaging after opening to keep it fresh for 7-10 days.

Barleycup – £2.50

An interesting breakfast drink made from cereal grains and chicory roots. It is naturally caffeine free and a great way to make the switch from tea or coffee. This has a rich coffee flavour without any of the caffeine.

Lizi’s Focus Super Muesli – 75p for 50g, £3.50 for 400g | Lizi’s Boost Super Muesli – 75p for 50g, £3.50 for 400g

I do love muesli for breakfast but I don’t buy it very often as I am the only one that eats this. This is super tasty and is the perfect size for a breakfast. Made from toasted and untoasted oats, it is packed full of fruit and nuts and is so delicious and filling!

NAT Bears – £2.90

These went down a real treat and will definitely be making their way into our cupboards again. Made from wholegrain oat cereal, these are such a tasty breakfast in a fun bear shape and have no artificial colours or flavours. You can put them in a bowl with milk or enjoy them as a snack like Olivia loves!

Mallow Puffs Salted Caramel Mallow Bar – £1.59

This was so tasty and provided that chocolate hit just when I needed it! The flavour was good, not too weak or too strong and the bar is vegan too!

Mister Free’d Avocado Tortilla Chips – £1.59

These are high in fibre and gluten-free and are quite a nice snack. They have a bit of a kick and are something a little different but I wouldn’t go out of my way to purchase them again.

Gregory’s Tree Organic Strawberry Fruit Twists – 89p

The kids have had these before and really enjoyed them. These are the perfect healthier snack and are gluten free and suitable for vegans too. A great snack for on the go for the kids that you can easily keep in your handbag!

Grey Poupon Dijon Vegan Mayo – £2.50

One of a brand new range of mustard flavoured vegan mayos, these are made with the finest French mustard. This tastes so good and has no artificial flavours. It is currently available in larger Tesco stores.

Sun-Pat Smooth Peanut Butter – £1.50

Now if you know anything about my house, you’d know there is always at least one jar of peanut butter in the cupboard, usually more. That peanut butter is more than likely Sun-Pat! This was always going to be a much appreciated addition to the box. It is packed with 96% peanuts and is a natural source of protein.

Rowntree’s Fruit Pastilles Vegan Friendly Sweets Sharing Pouch – £1.29

Who doesn’t love Fruit Pastilles? I totally couldn’t tell these were vegan! Fruit Pastilles until recently used gelatin in their sweets but recently announced they were becoming vegan friendly and I couldn’t tell the difference at all. Packed full of the flavours and chew that we know and love.

TREK POWER Millionaire Shortbread – £1.75

TREK bars seem to be a regular occurrence in the Degustabox and I am happy to see them included each time. This particular bar is plant based, gluten free and contains 15g of protein. It is a great snack for on the go and the flavour is pretty delicious too!

Whitworths Shots Fruity Biscuits – £1.60

My kids have tried these before and really loved them! They are only 93 calories and are a healthier snack option than the stuff they’d usually opt for – these contain sultanas, cranberries and white chocolate coated shortcake! We always have some of these in the cupboard!

So what did we think of the box? I was pretty impressed. I will admit some items such as the mayo confused me as it didn’t seem to fit either breakfast or on the go but ah well!

With the box costing £12.99, the contents come to over £20 which is a great deal and a great saving.

What item would you try first from the box?
