Collaborative Post

While your travel plans may have been derailed for a while, eventually things will open up once again. The world will return to some sense of normalcy, and people will be coming and going all over the world.

If you’re planning a trip after COVID-19, one of the best ways you can get a full experience anywhere you go is to partake in the food. If you’re planning a trip to the UK, eating like a local in London is a great way to break up some of the traditional “tourist” experiences and get a real taste of what Londoners like to eat!

Who knows, you might love the cuisine here so much, you’ll apply for further leave to remain! In any case, let’s look at a few ways you can eat like a local when you’re visiting our little section of the UK.

  1. The Wolseley

When people from other countries come to London, they often expect the entire area to feel like they’re stepping back in time or walking into the Palace. Unfortunately, that isn’t always the case. But, that’s no reason for you to be disappointed.

One way you can experience some of that ‘royal feel’ is to try The Wolseley. It is a grand cafe with a vintage feel, and it’s extremely popular with locals and tourists alike. It will show you that side of London that often gets stereotyped, but in the best way possible!

  1. Pellicci

Another ‘stereotype’ London often gets pegged with is the use of cockney accents. For Americans, in particular, there are a few famous English actors that have fueled that stereotype over the years.

While it may not be the norm for all of London, if you do want to feel some of that charm, visit Pellicci. It’s an old school cafe that is incredibly inviting and has its own sense of charm. Plus, it’s a great place to get your hands on a traditional English breakfast! There are plenty of imitators out there, as well, so knowing you’re getting the “real deal” here is a huge plus!

  1. Borough Market

While this isn’t a restaurant, browsing through Borough Market will make you feel even more like a local as you sample incredible cheeses and find yourself tempted by the smell of fresh baked goods wafting through the air.

If you consider yourself a “foodie” at all, Borough Market may quickly become your favorite location, and a must-do for your morning strolls. Whether you’re staying in the area for a while and looking for ingredients or you just want something sweet to snack on, the culture within the market will keep you coming back for more.

Eating the UK

The UK is more of a melting pot of foods than many people realize. From Indian cuisine to Italian fare, you’re bound to find something that pleases your tastebuds here. But, if you want a traditional English experience and you want to enjoy some of the things the locals do, try the suggestions above. You’ll leave the country with more delicious memories than you can count!
