Over the past few days, we have been talking a lot about our budget and how we are going to make it work going forward. As you can imagine, the current pandemic has hit me hard and whilst I have still luckily been earning some semblance of a wage, my income each month has definitely taken a hit. Steve has been working consistently throughout however there has been no overtime.
Steve has also had time to think about what he wants to do with his career and has finally come to a decision but this does mean studying. This does mean he will be staying in his part time job for now whilst studying and then hoping to get a full time job in his chosen field after Christmas. After all, there aren’t many jobs going right now and he hasn’t qualified yet so he’s hoping by the time he has, the job market has got better.
With that in mind, we have been talking about readjusting our budget. I love my books, Steve likes his golf and darts, we love a takeaway or meal and out and we enjoy the odd wine from the shop at Independent Wine but we’ll just have to be more savvy with our cash. I loved the barolo I mentioned previously and at least I know with Independent Wine, I am getting the right price for Barolo and not paying too much so I can budget accordingly.

We know what we can cut out and we know what we can keep. We will be keeping our little pleasures because otherwise life would be boring! But there are definitely other avenues where we can cut down our costs or even erase them altogether. I’ve recently managed to pay off a couple of debts after paying on them for ages so that gives me a little bit of money back in my pocket to add into my budget.
We are still in the process of completely working it out and readjusting our budget accordingly – I will let you know how I get on! Do you budget? Have you got money set aside in your budget for your little pleasures?

Yes, challenging times for us. Best Wishes! Easing of lockdown now.
Pandemic has hit lots of us hard think we are all fed up. Let’s hope easing restrictions doesn’t knock us back again x
