With both me and Steve making an effort to eat more healthily and not skip any meals at all, we were intrigued when asked if we would like to review a brand new breakfast muesli on the scene – Sown & Grown Apple & Raspberry Multigrain Muesli. With Jack off for his Easter holidays, we all had plenty of time to give the muesli a try.
What makes this muesli different? Well… cereal has always come in bags and boxes …and it really doesn’t need to. This particular muesli comes in a distinctive tube complete with a resealable lid to help retain freshness. Sown & Grown are a new brand of fab tasting granolas and mueslis and these are gently baked or blended in small batches, made from 100% British grains. The entire range is high fibre, wholegrain, low salt, low fat and low in saturated fats too. What’s not to love? It can be bought from Sainsbury’s for £3.95 for a 450g tube. S
o what were our thoughts?
First things first, let me just say how lovely the flavour is. Apple & raspberry is one of my favourite combinations so I was always going to be a fan of the taste. I found the muesli to be quite filling although found it to be a little on the dry side even when milk had been poured over. Jack was also a fan, asking for it on multiple days over the Easter holidays.
Steve wasn’t as much of a fan though. He thought the flavour was okay but the slight dryness of the muesli put him off a little. We are big muesli fans in this household so we know what we like so whilst myself and Jack enjoyed it, Steve wasn’t so keen.
Things I loved about this new range from Sown & Grown was the subtle but tasty flavour, the packaging as it saves on waste and the fact that the lid is resealable. Always helpful in a household where people never usually want the same cereal two days in a row. My only bugbear was the fact that the muesli remained a little dry even after milk. This is something that I am sure I will get over as time goes on so on the whole, I am mostly impressed.
Have you tried anything from the Sown & Grown range?
