I don’t know about you but I feel exhausted! It seems like life is a neverending stream of working, parenting and so much more. Sometimes it is just nice to get some time alone or some time away with my partner because it definitely doesn’t happen very often! When we do get time together, we usually just flake out in front of the TV – or like I did last night, listening to an audiobook!
We managed to get away a few months ago which was lovely but I am desperate to get away again soon. It can be so tough to get some time away from the kids which is why time they get to spend with their grandparents, on playdates or at clubs and activities needs to be used wisely by us parents!
I wanted to share with you three of my date ideas for exhausted parents. I’ve tried two and am keen to try one – let me know if you’ve ever had a date night or weekend doing one or even a few of these:
A Spa Break
Would you believe that I have never been on a spa break? It is something I have always wanted to do though and I love the idea of trying one of the couples spa breaks Yorkshire has to offer. There are plenty of wonderful places to enjoy a spa break up there and Titanic Spa have some fantastic packages to choose from.
As we often feel so tired, a spa break sounds like the perfect date for us as it means we can get some time together whilst being able to relax too – who wouldn’t want some time just to relax? It sounds like a dream to me!

Murder Mystery Dinner
I have been on one of these before and it was lovely – Steve’s parents had Jack (it was before Olivia was born!) and we headed down to Dorset where the action started immediately – the butler opened the door in character! I’d love to do one of these again as I love a good murder mystery and so does Steve and it is a great thing to do together. If you and/or your partner love a murder mystery, then a murder mystery dinner is a brilliant date idea.
A Simple Picnic
Sometimes the simplest of ideas can be some of the best. Steve is usually at work whilst the kids are at school and I am usually working for clients but sometimes the stars align and we manage to have some time off at the same time! The weather isn’t quite suitable for it right now but a great idea for a date is a simple picnic. In the sunshine, there is nothing better than getting some time together and eating some food – especially when it is comfort foods like picnic foods. It has been a long while since I have had a picnic but I can’t wait for some warmer weather so I can have one!
How about you? Are you an exhausted parent in need of some time alone? What date suggestions do you have?
