I was recently offered the opportunity to test out the new Autumn menu at our local Beefeater restaurant. I hadn’t been to a Beefeater in a very long time so was excited to visit somewhere new for once. We opted for the Stanborough Beefeater in Welwyn Garden City which is about twenty minutes drive away from us. Armed with £50 of vouchers sent to us by Beefeater to try the menu, we couldn’t wait!
We arrived and were seated promptly with a gentlemen quickly taking our drinks offer. I didn’t catch his name but the man served us throughout and was very attentive and perhaps the best server we have ever had anywhere – he is a credit to the restaurant. After ordering our drinks, we took a look at the menu and instantly the new sharing platter of loaded potato dippers stood out to us. They certainly lived up to expectations – they were incredible and we even had them again when we were taken out for a meal by Steve’s parents last week. I wholeheartedly recommend you try them next time you visit a Beefeater, they are a great addition to the menu!
Jack was kept busy during the starter with the activity pack he was given – he became really engrossed in it and we had to prise it off him to eat his dinner. He didn’t eat much of the starter due to the jalapenos but what he did have he enjoyed.
For our mains, we each chose our old favourites – Jack opted for the Poppin Chicken and chips, Steve chose the double bacon and cheese steak burger and I opted for the chargrilled chicken and woodland mushroom risotto – yum! Steve said that his burger was one of the best burgers he had ever had (which is saying something as he loves burgers and has them a lot!) and Jack is always impressed by chicken. I never used to be a fan of risottos until a few years back and this was definitely one of the best risottos I’ve tasted.
When it came to desserts, I really struggled to choose! They had all of my favourites on there from sticky toffee pudding to lemon meringue to blackforest gateau – I really was spoilt for choice! I finally chose the blackforest gateau, Jack chose ice cream and Steve picked sticky toffee pudding. As you can see, they looked delicious but did they taste as good?
Yep. They did. I was actually gutted because I had to leave a little of my gateaux – there was so much and it was so rich (in a yummy way) and I was so stuffed from the other courses that I couldn’t quite eat it all. I’m determined to go back and have it again though – I still have a whole dessert list to go through!
I would definitely recommend the new menu from Beefeater, you won’t be disappointed.

The portions are huge at Beefeater aren’t they. Looks like a lovely meal.
