My Pregnancy Diaries | Week 16

I started off my pregnancy diaries last week bemoaning about the morning sickness and worrying about the 4lb weight loss from all the vomiting. Well..this week I put 3lb of it back on and was only sick once – swings and roundabouts, eh?

This week has been good on the symptoms part really. No nausea to speak of really, no cravings (I never had them with Jack either), just a little bit of back pain (which could be from sitting at a desk all day) and a weird bout of vomiting which came on suddenly out of nowhere and didn’t feel like sick at all – more like the baby had just booted the food I had just eaten back up from my stomach.

But you don’t want to hear about that, do you?  No..I wouldn’t either.

I have felt slight flutters already which is really strange but so nice. I have a midwife appointment on Friday morning which I am not looking forward to – does anyone enjoy getting stabbed in the arm with a needle? I don’t! I’ve only got three more weeks until we can potentially find out the sex of the baby, I’m so excited!

In regards to the weight gain, I posted a picture on Instagram talking about how gains are all part of the process of pregnancy and whilst I don’t want to pile on every pound that I have lost since I started back on, I don’t mind a little each week – as long as I don’t go back to where I was and really struggle to get it off again once baby is here. I’m going to be sticking to the plan 100% (okay, with the odd indulgent treat – a pregnant woman is allowed that, right?) – and hopefully keep to a healthy weight throughout pregnancy and not have too much to lose when I get back to it properly after baby has arrived.

Here’s hoping for another week of no sickness, I am enjoying finally seeming to have dodged the bullet on that one! Let’s hope it lasts!

  1. Of course you’re allowed treats – LOTS of them 🙂 Here’s to a healthy few months ahead

  2. I was only sick twice throughout and the only thing that triggered nausea was brushing my teeth! Ginger biscuits (which I didn’t like before and still don’t) were the only thing that stopped it; if I did feel sick.
Heartburn which was bad at times – Gripe water worked a treat and TOTALLY safe! x

  3. Congratulations first and foremost. I do hear of pregnant women losing weight due to the sickness but then putting it back on, as long as you’re healthy and it’s going well lovely, all good news xo

  4. I was so poorly when pregnant with my twins weight gain was the least of my worries! They were huge born and my stomach really shows it sadly
Hope it improves for you and baby is growing well x

  5. Oh dear, morning sickness is no fun at all. Hopefully that stage will finish shortly for you! The first flutterings are always so lovely too, I think.
