Most schools in the country went back this week whereas my county seems to be the only one in the country who started a week later and who are going back a week later. However I believe that the rough date for finding out school places is the same across the country and we find out ourselves next Monday. We find out whether Jack gets into infants school…and I am petrified.
Jack started at the nursery school attached to the infants school back in September. He has made lots of friends and they have all also applied to get into the infants school yet we are all terrified that when push comes to shove, our child won’t get in. They allocate spaces based on distance from the school more than anything – having siblings already in the school does bear some influence but usually itsย based on crow flies distance. We are one of the furthest away from the school in Jack’s nursery class (there are four from his class including him that live on our private estate) so hopefully if one gets in, they all do. Jack’s friend lives ages away (although still in the village) and I know her mum is just as worried.
I am trying to stay positive but its hard when there is a worry that he won’t get into the school of our choice. There is nowhere else for him to go. There is only one infants school in the village, Steve works shift work, I don’t drive and public transport from our village anywhere is pretty much abominable. The most likely place to go to school apart from our village is the one place that the local bus companies have ceased all but three buses a day to – and these are all during school hours so I wouldn’t be able to get Jack there or home!
I’m keeping my fingers crossed that he will get in but ever so slowly the doubts are creeping in. This is something so important and I want Jack to have the best start to life he can – and this school would be it. Its where I went and its a great school, I just hope that Jack gets a chance to experience it.
Wish us luck!

I know exactly how you are feeling, we find out on Friday and I will anxiously be checking my emails every 5 minutes, fingers crossed for Jack x
Will be keeping everything crossed for you, it is a very worrying time waiting to hear if you got the place you have applied for x
Fingers crossed that he gets into the school that his friends will be at as it makes such a difference to know people there beforehand x
Oh wow, I have absolutely everything crossed for you. Let me know how Jack gets on, good luck, good luck, good luck! xxx
Aw fingers crossed he gets into the school of his choice especially since his friends are there. Going to a school where you know noone can be daunting.
I wish you guys luck! I hope Jack’s friend is able to get in too!
That must be so stressful not knowing if your child will get into the school they want to. We’ve only got the one school everyone goes to so we don’t have that problem up here. Good luck! ๐
Good luck with it all. I hope he gets into the school of his choice x
Good luck! This is something that worries me greatly. We’re looking to move soon and schooling is one of our top priorities. It’s such a big impact on their lives that I don’t want to pick a great house out of a good catchment area. x
fingers crossed!! I am so glad my youngest got into the school we wanted last September, as they could only take 30 kids and around 50 applied for a place
Good luck! I hope you get your first choice ๐
aw good luck! i hope he gets in as i think its great that its the same one you went to
Fingers crossed Jack gets in, we are having trouble with Secondary schools at the moment. Tapanga got into one that isn’t the greatest so we are appealing at the moment which is a nightmare to say the least… I really hope everything goes well for you! xx
good luck, it can be hard now to get into a good local school.
Awww good luck with that!! I will keep you in my thoughts. ๐ I’m sure we will read how it has gone on the blog later? ๐
Good luck! it’s certainly a daunting time for everyone, it seems to get harder as they grow up too.
I remember this feeling well! Stay positive. I’ll keep my fingers crossed for you.
Fingers crossed your little one gets into the school you want!! X
Fingers crossed you will get the answer you want. It must be torture having to wait!
Fingers crossed you get the school you want. It must be a really nerve wracking time.
