Wishlist | New Look

As most of you may know, I am taking voluntary redundancy from my job in August. I still haven’t decided what I am going to do job wise yet; I am hopefully going to be making a go of working from home but I obviously need to be well prepared in case this doesn’t work out quite as I want it to.

Regardless, I am going to need to spruce up my wardrobe to reflect these changes in my working life. If I do end up working from home, it is quite possible that I may end up doing work in my pyjamas much as I may insist that I won’t – but I will also need some functional work wear for any meetings I may have. On the other hand, if I do venture back into the working world, I will also need some stylish interview wear available in my wardrobe too.

Step forward New Look – always the place I go to when wanting to look smart and presentable – but on a budget. Their casual wear is just as good as their smart wear and I am always grateful when I receive vouchers for Christmas as I could spend hours looking around!

Beautysets - fashion workwear

Having spent the majority of my working life in plain black or plain white work shirts, I think it is time for a little bit of a shake up! I picked a floral blouse to go with some plain black trousers to add a splash of colour to the outfit. I do tend to stay quite traditional when it comes to smart workwear; preferring to hardly stray from the colour black and wearing little to no accessories. Since my engagement ring is silver, this had to be considered when picking out jewellery – finding silver understated jewellery on a budget is not as easy as you may think. The flats make the outfit practical but pretty and can be used for any occasion.

The main draw for this outfit (for me, at least) is of course the bag. This bag is well within my budget, simple and chic. I am a sucker for handbags in general and this one is no exception. I already have way more bags than I probably need but I am severely lacking in the simple black handbag department which is crazy! This bag is well within my budget, simple and chic and perfect for everyday use too!

I love that top! This is similar to a few things I have for when I start teaching (all old, sadly, I wore them all on placements). That bag is gorgeous; I'm a sucker for bags too, but only have 1 black one?! What?! Lol.
My workwear style also includes skater dresses – they are so easy to style, comfortable and you can dress them up and down so they are a great investment for any wardrobe! 🙂 I always check New Look and Dorothy Perkins for new work clothes; I think they offer the best pieces for my budget! Xo

I have troubles when it comes to 'work fashion' It is annoying because I look old because my fashion sense is a bit obtuse. :[ The problem is I am not taking any action but you are! That is good! Hope everything will be okay! Go for it!

  4. Work fashion for me tended to be chinos and cotton shirts – smart but cool. And now my teen daughter has run off with most of them!

  5. I love the look of these items, though I'd never match them all together by myself because sadly I totally suck when it comes to fashion. My fashion style seems to be 'whatever's on top in the drawer' or 'whatever's within easy reach in the wardrobe'.. so, yeah, not good. I'm a big fan of New Look though, love their clothes (usually) and I find them quite affordable compared to other stores.
What type of work are you planning on doing from home? (If you don't mind me asking!)..
