Collaborative Post
We’ve been spending a lot of time travelling recently and we’ve been talking a lot about where we are planning on heading next. We aren’t quite brave enough to tackle long haul with our two so short haul it will remain for now. We’ve been discussing different destinations and I think we may have finally settled on one – Tenerife.
Tenerife is the largest of Spain’s Canary Islands, off of West Africa. Did you know it has a dormant volcano on the island which is actually Spain’s tallest peak?
But why are we planning on holidaying in Tenerife and what is there to do there?
I may have mentioned this before but Steve’s sister lives over in Tenerife. She’s been over there for about ten years now and loves it there. Steve’s brother also lived there for a good few years so it is safe to say that our family loves the place.
I’ve never visited and neither have the kids – so it would be nice to both have a holiday and visit family at the same time. We only get to see my sister in law about once a year, if that – so getting to see her more regularly, even if just for a week or a fortnight, would be great.
You can get some great deals
There’s some fantastic deals available on the Voyage Privé website, last minute deals that really save you some pennies. Tenerife is quite an affordable destination anyway but if there is a possibility for me to save even more money, then I am going to take that opportunity.
I’ve been keeping my eye out for a deal that works on a date we can do – we have to work around school holidays currently due to Jack being at full time school and Steve also working there.
There are some fab beaches
The island of Tenerife has some beautiful beaches. We love visiting a beach when we are on holiday – only one holiday Jack has had wasn’t near a beach – and Tenerife has some stunning blue waters and golden sands. Did you know there are even some beaches with black sand? I didn’t!
What could be better on holiday than a day spent at the beach, splashing in the sea?
I am probably quite biased seeing as my sister in law is a singer who performs on the island but the nightlife is said to be truly second to none. Something that is great about it is that many of the pubs and bars are also family friendly – great with people who have young children such as me.
Entertainment is key when you are holidaying as a family and Tenerife has plenty of it! We like to spend every night out when we are on holiday so some decent nightlife is very much needed.
Sunshine all year round
Perhaps the biggest reason for visiting is that there is sunshine all year round. When I go on holiday, I want to be warm and indulge in the sunshine. Tenerife is a fantastic destination for this as it barely rains and the sun is always blazing down. Whether choosing to spend a day on the beach with the kids or exploring the island, I want the weather to be great and I can pretty much guarantee that with this destination.
These are just a few reasons on why I would like to visit Tenerife but I am sure there are many other reasons why Tenerife is such a fantastic destination for both couples and families alike. Have you ever been? Do you have any tips of places to go or things to do?

I think it’ll be a really lovely idea to go to Tenerife and see your sister. The kids would of course love a holiday and you can enjoy a nice little break with weather that’s bound to be better than it currently is in the UK!!!!!
I went to Tenerife about 20 years ago and it was a very interesting island. I remember visiting Mount Teide the volcano. The beaches are great too and of course it’s warm all year round. You’ve made me want to return!
I used to go to Tenerife when I was little with my family. Got so many good memories there! It is such a lovely place to go and there is so much to do! I used to love having a ice cream by the beach at sunset!
I love Tenerife (and all the Canary Islands). It’s great for a laid-back beach/pool holiday, but also has plenty to offer those who want a more active break.
I think sunshine all round is a biggest seller for me, I have always wanted to visit this part of Spain but I am yet to make it.
Me and my husband have been to Gran Caneria twice and we loved it. Now we have kids we would love to visit Tenerife as a little more for them to do there
Tenerife is a fantastic holiday destination! I’ve been 6 or 7 times over the years and each holiday I enjoy even more. I’d love to perhaps retire there one day xxx
We’ve never been to Tenerife but I think you’ve just sold it to me! It seems a great place to go as a family.
That’s so nice that you have family over in tenerife, a good excuse to get some sunshine and go and visit x
Not been to Tenerife before. that said I like the sound of year round sunshine…could do with escaping the wet winter weather x
We have been to all the canary islands except Tenerife, its on out to visit list next . Its great to read your recommendations.
I love all the Canary Islands. They have such a lovely feel to them and the weather is an absolute bonus
I’ve always wanted to go to Tenerife! It is probably one of the most affordable sunny holidays that we can think of for our family. It’s even better that you have family out there that you could probably stay with. Free accommodation would save you even more money.
My husband has been a few times, but only on lads holidays. I would love to visit, it looks like a beautiful island
