Everyone has a travel bucket list, don’t they? There are certain destinations that are unique to some people – others may consider them a little obscure. Then there are the destinations that everyone seems to have on their bucket list. Australia seems to be one of those destinations.
There’s something exotic about the other side of the world – the anticipation and not knowing of what is there for you to see. I know of multiple people who’ve gone to Australia, some spending a few months out there and really experiencing what the country has to offer.
Now the fact that it is exotic and so far away is just one of the reasons for me. Another reason is that I would love to see the land that my ancestors came from. My great grandfather was from Australia, Melbourne in fact, and moved to the UK where he met my great grandmother and had four children including my grandfather. My grandfather and my mother have always wanted to visit Australia but it doesn’t look likely so I’d love to make the trip for them.
I would love to visit Melbourne to see exactly where my family came from but I also want to explore more of the country as I’ve heard that the family wasn’t just in Melbourne. There is just so much to see and do over there and it is such a big place to explore – it would be a great way to spend a few weeks or a month.
The fun fact is the country has a whole lot to offer and I don’t want to miss out on it. Travelling is so important to us, especially as a family – and I cannot wait to travel further and further afield with them and do more exciting things. Be sure to follow along on our travels – and who knows, we may eventually set foot on Australian soil. Until then, I can but dream.
What destinations are on your travel bucket list? Do you have any unique or obscure destinations that may mean much more to you than they do to others? I would love some travel inspiration!

It’s never been on my list ahead of places like America, Japan etc, but reading this has made me think I’d definitely like to get around to a visit in my lifetime.
