You may remember my previous reviews on the Degustabox and I am back with a review of the May box today. I love the concept of Degustabox, a monthly subscription box with 10-15 food and drink (both alcoholic and non alcoholic) items for the grand old price of £12.99 including postage. The items in the box are often worth almost double the cost of the box so either way you are getting a really good deal. So what did we get this month?
The aim of Degustabox is to introduce you to brands you may not have heard of before and that they did with the majority of the brands featured this month. So let’s see what we got:
Finn Crisp Original Thin Sourdough Rye Crispbread £1.11 | This was the item in the box that half the people who get the boxes got and half didn’t. I really don’t like rye crispbreads and neither does Steve so these will be going to my Dad. Sorry guys, I would have much preferred the granola!
Kettle Sweet Potato Chips Lightly Salted £2.49 | Everyone received a Kettle Chips product in their box but there were two flavours available, Lightly Salted or Sweet Chilli. I would have been happy with either but actually almost finished this bag in one sitting – almost. I was naughty and waited until Jack had gone to bed – they were so worth the wait though and I am just glad Steve doesn’t really like sweet potato crisps!
Cawston Press Cloudy Apple £1 | I drink fizzy drinks like they are going out of fashion and love apple flavoured products so I thought I would adore this but unfortunately, my expectations fell flat. It said crisp but it was a little too crisp for me – Steve really enjoyed it though!
Dr Oetker Cake Release Spray £2.28 | We haven’t got round to using this yet but if other Dr Oetker products are anything to go by, we will love it!
Elizabeth Shaw Dark Chocolate Cocoa Crunch Flutes £2.59 | Dark chocolate is our least favourite in this house and we don’t really eat it as we aren’t big fans of it but these flutes won 2 out of 3 of us round. Steve still didn’t like the fact it was dark chocolate but I found these quite nice and they lasted us for almost a week, just snacking as and when.
Cirio La Classica Passata £1.35 | We haven’t used this yet but am so keen to get using it soon – may post a recipe to show you how we used it.
Taylors Of Harrogate Blackberry and Elderflower Tea £2.99 | I am a big fruit tea buyer but I often fall short on the actual drinking part. I seem to have phases where I love them so stock up then decide I am not such a big fan after all. No such thing with these, they are lush and I will definitely pick up some more.
Garofolo Pasta £1.89 | Pasta is one of those things we have in our kitchen cupboards at ALL times as it is a quick and easy dinner that everyone in the family loves. We used this in a carbonara pasta bake and it was incredible – we normally bulk buy on cheap supermarket own brand pasta but this is well worth those extra pennies.
Cirio Supercirio Double Concentrated Tomato Puree £1.10 | Another thing we haven’t got round to using yet but will definitely be used up in the next few weeks, tomato puree doesn’t last long in this house!
RAW Energy Chewing Gum | I originally passed these along to Steve as I thought he would really enjoy them and could take them to work for his long night shifts but he wasn’t as keen as I was – these have a slight taste of Red Bull (must be the Taurine) and whilst I can’t say they give any energy or perk me up, they sure do taste nice!
Hornsby’s Crisp Apple American Classic Cider & Crisp Pear with Strawberry & Lime Cider | These were probably my favourite items in the box this month. I love nothing better in the sunshine than a cold cider and we even took these to Bluestone with us to enjoy one night. As expected, the Strawberry and Lime are by far my favourite out of the two flavours – however, I am just happy to be able to add another cider brand to my likes list..yum!
