So I completely forgot to write up a weight loss diary last week. Have two weeks in one this week instead!
These past few weeks have been very busy, very stressful and truthfully I guess my focus on weight loss slipped a little. The weekend before last I was all set to be really good but unfortunately on the Friday afternoon, Steve had to go to hospital urgently. I couldn’t go with him as I had Jack but his Dad went with him and sat in the hospital with him for hours, something I am really grateful for as Steve really wasn’t himself, he was very quiet and withdrawn with worry.
With me unable to be with him and with him then staying in overnight and not getting home until late on Saturday, I was obviously sick with worry. After putting a fractious child to bed (who knew something was up so was playing up because of it as he didn’t understand), I laid on the sofa with my phone next to me in case Steve or his Dad called and caught up with the four episodes of Eastenders I had missed that week. I didn’t make dinner, I didn’t feel like eating so ended up eating a couple of Slimming World Hi Fi Light bars from the raffle basket that I won to keep me going. Not good but I just couldn’t eat.

The next day however I more than made up for it and perhaps gorged a little too much. I actually had to do a stint at the school fair and was worrying as I had no one to look after Jack – luckily my fantastic friend and Slimming World consultant Em came to the rescue and took Jack around the fair whilst I covered a stall. We tried to keep things like normal for Jack despite being sick with worry whilst Steve had scans and tests (side note: they couldn’t find anything so believe it was just an infection. Definitely better to be safe than sorry though!). I managed to resist the mince pies but the chocolates Jack won on the chocolate tombola and the thought of takeaway pizza took over and I am not going to lie, I binged.
I was out at Willows Farm for a blog thing on the Sunday but tried to be good in regards to eating to try to make up for my bad eating habits of the last two days. Something must have worked because I managed 2.5lb in weight loss that week – bringing me to 3.5lb of weight loss overall.
This week was the week of Jack’s birthday so I knew it would be tough to remain completely on plan. With our family trip to Pizza Hut on the Friday (Jack’s actual birthday) with a stop off at the in laws for birthday cake and then his party on the Saturday with more birthday cake, snacks and lunch that we bought there (I tried to be a bit healthier but there were also wedges…lovely wedges), it was never going to be a great weekend for eating healthily! I also had our blogger Christmas meal on the Saturday night but tried to be as good as I possibly could! Sunday I was a bit better but I was not looking forward to weigh in on Monday… I was prepared for a hefty gain not a weight loss. As it turns out, I had neither and managed to stay the same. It means I am still at 3.5lb lost overall (which I am chuffed about and hope to lose more before Christmas)! I think being quite good throughout the week and then running about with the kids at Jack’s party really helped and I am so pleased as I was so sure I was going to put on this week!
So far this week I am doing okay. I haven’t been feeling well so am tempted to reach for my comfort foods if I do manage to eat at all but I have been trying to stick to a bowl of spaghetti hoops (free food), beans on toast (free food on my Healthy Extra B) or a Bachelor’s Savoury Rice (super tasty and only 0.5 syns per sachet). Hopefully I have made some difference come next week!

It’s all about making small changes and taking it day by day, so you are doing great. I lost 7st myself, so I know how tough it can be.
That looks like an awesome raffle prize.
Just remember Rome wasn’t built in a day, you’re doing incredibly well on your journey, take little steps and it will be easier to keep any weight lost off.
What a great hamper, I don’t blame you I would have binged too!!!
Well done for maintaining your weight even in the face of temptation that is pretty good and glad you had a wonderful time at Jack’s birthday and the blogger meal.
well done! Keep at it and be determined. It sounds like you have made the decision to do it, which I think is half the battle?
Congrats on winning that raffle – great time to win it!
Good luck with your weigh in – it’s hard watching what you are eating when there are special occasions but you sound like you’ve stayed on track.
Congratulations on winning your hamper, and well done for sticking to your diet x
I think it’s ok to have blips sometimes, it’s hard to stay focussed and never give in to the occasional treat. I always think as long as you try and keep to the plan 80 % of the time then you’re doing better than you were before. x
Good luck with the weight plan. Hope it works out.
I think you are doing really well and that hamper looks a bit fab x
I’m really glad that things turned out to be okay after the hospital scans, and congrats on winning that raffle!
I must admit I do love treats, like birthday – a little treat, just so we don’t feel like we are denying ourselves and as long as we don’t go over the top or feel guilty. I am planning on starting on a nice healthy eating plan in January as I know I won’t have any will power over Christmas!
I won the hamper at my daughter’s nativity on Wednesday. I was shocked as I never win anything! x
Well done hun. I am trying to lose some weight, but finding it really hard has I just love my food too much
losing weight is hard and it sounds like you are doing great. It will be worth it in the end x
well done on your win, it looked amazing.
As for the weight loss, i saw a great quote that said “some weeks it’s pizza and other weeks it’s salad” – which is so true, no one can be expected to be 100% at al times! keep going x
Oh my goodness Bex, I Steve is alright now *cuddles* I can only image how worried you were.
Weightloss with come with time and its amazing that you’ve started – I look forward to seeing your journey. A 3.5lb lost is BLOODY AMAZING!
