Apologies for this being up a little late – things got a little on top of me and I only realised I hadn’t written anything last night when I wasn’t feeling 100%. This is going to be a general wedding chat post, no topic in particular – I hope you don’t mind!
It is fast approaching Clare’s hen night and I am starting to think that I want my hen night to be similar. As I am a mum and my maid of honour is expecting, by the time it comes round to me actually getting married I doubt I will want a stereotypical hen night. That isn’t to say the hen night norm is wrong, oh no, I’ve been on a few and loved them. However, that just isn’t my scene anymore.
I have been catching up with piles of old wedding magazines – I am so behind, this one was from March! I was also lucky enough to win a digital magazine subscription from my buddy Helen and Zinio so I decided to put it towards a wedding magazine sub as they seem to be my magazine of choice at the moment – when I get around to reading them!
I have been hastily saving the pennies for the past couple of weeks. I was lucky that someone took a chance on me as a freelance writer and then commissioned more work! I tend to work around Jack – writing during his nap times or when he is content with playing by himself for 20 minutes. I also tend to do some work in the evenings if Steve is on nights – I have free rein to get as much done once Jack has gone to bed!
I have also spent a lot more time doing online surveys, market research and other such things – these are so quick and easy to do whilst Jack is playing with his toys or is having his night time bottle. We have also been going through the house selling pretty much everything – I am still to sort out Jack’s clothes however as I know that I am keeping some plus giving some to my friend – he has loads so it won’t be an easy job! I have recently signed up to InstaGC because of Helen where you earn points which are redeemable for gift cards. If you would like to be referred to this site or any of my survey sites, leave your email below and I shall send one through 🙂
Myself and Steve are also cutting back on a lot. I decided to finish my spending ban very early because, yes, I wanted to spend – but I have been very restrained and most of the money I have spent is on Jack for winter clothing, his birthday or Christmas. We have finally managed to cancel a phone contract that we wanted to cancel ages ago – the fee to cancel would have been horrendous so Orange cut down the bill dramatically and we just had to pay that amount until the time to upgrade or cancel. I am so glad that it is out of my life because I can now put that extra money per month into the wedding fund – something that didn’t seem possible a few months ago. There is also an Aldi opening up near to us just before Christmas so we plan to check it out and see if we can make the switch – people rave about it so it has to be good, right?
What stage of wedding planning are you on right now? Or are you having a mish mash of thoughts just like me?
