Considering this is not a fashion blog and I am perhaps the least fashionable person I know, I sure do have a lot of clothes. I haven’t bought so much recently as I just can’t justify it but the sheer amount of stuff I have is overwhelming. Considering just a few years ago all I lived in was black band hoodies, band t shirts and skinny jeans plus the fact I am a lot heavier now than I was then, I have come to the realisation that all of this fabric crammed into my wardrobe has been added within the past few years. That may not sound too bad but if you saw the amount…
Picture from 2006 or 2007? Basically what my wardrobe extended to.
I am a sucker for fast (and cheap) fashion. I have an eye for a bargain and if you give me the choice between a £5 dress or a £40 equivalent with a similar style, you can guarantee that I will have £35 still in my purse to play with. As I grow older though, I find myself more inclined to creating a closet with just a few staple items. I don’t need 50 dresses (though I keep telling myself I do) and it pains me to think that those designer items I lust after could have been paid for out of the money I forked out for those dresses which I have barely worn!
I am currently going through my wardrobe with a fine toothcomb, pulling out anything that won’t stand the test of time! A pair of shorts that don’t even fit anymore? Going. My work trousers? Going – do I really need 3 pairs now I no longer work there? My work shirts? Going – hated them with a passion! That dress that I’ve worn once but is just a little too short? Gone.
Right now, I live in either maxi dresses or a top and skinny jeans. If I’m going out somewhere nice, perhaps a dress with leggings or tights. I need to revamp my wardrobe contents and I need to invest in some good quality pieces which will stand the test of time. I’m hoping that by selling some of the stuff I no longer want, I can pick up something much better with the proceeds – if the wedding fund doesn’t get them first!
Do you have some staple high quality items in your wardrobe? What would you suggest?

I have so many clothes so I had a clear out a while back, but still don't wear some of the stuff still hanging in my wardrobe!
I pretty much live in dresses… Sandals in the summer and tights, boots and chunky cardigans in the winter!

It gets so bad, doesn't it?x
My wardrobe is crammed full of various items, but i always buy things that will come in style over and over again and have a classic look to them. My favourite items in my wardrobe are my dresses and a good pair of black heels.

Ooh, those are some proper staples!
I am so with you on this one. I must only wear about 10% of the clothes I actually own. It's rather silly! I am gonna have to have a brutal clear out but I get soooo sentimental. Any tips?!

Get someone to do it with you who won't be sentimental 🙂 x
love your writing style. For long term basics I'd suggest zara (there's always the sale) or even H&M!
