Toddlers. Who’d have them? I know it has only been a little while since I did my last update on Jack but he has changed so much in such a short period of time that I just had to share. These seem to be some of my more popular posts too.
He is due his 27 month check up next week, even though he isn’t quite 27 months yet. They will test him on his speech, movement and skills. They’ve sent us out a questionnaire which we have to fill in and he is doing pretty much everything, albeit some of them only occasionally and not all the time. I understand that these forms are there to help distinguish if your child needs help with anything but I can’t help but think they are a scare tactic too. No 27 month old is the same and I was panicking over the one or two things Jack doesn’t do – children develop at their own pace!
Jack’s speech has come on leaps and bounds in the past couple of weeks. He likes to sing songs all the time– his favourites at the moment are Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, the theme tunes to Something Special and Postman Pat and occasionally one of those songs in the middle of CBeebies programmes that the presenters sing!
He is getting better with his alphabet and can recognise certain letters – W being a favourite right now (M is also apparently W!) – and can count to ten and back again down to one. We downloaded some apps to our iPad and these have really aided him in learning alongside us teaching him. He has quite a range of words and some of them include:
My son didn't talk until he was two, sounds like Jack is doing well really. He's a gorgeous kid I can see you are proud of him 🙂

Jack is doing really well for 27 months! I know of a 27 month old kid who doesn't speak much yet. You are right, all children develop at their own pace.
