Collaborative Post
I don’t know about you but I am desperate for a holiday. After the tough year we had in temporary accommodation, the big house move, the pregnancy troubles and the worries with Hannah after she was born, I definitely could do with a break.
We have been thinking about a family holiday and whether that is going to be in the UK or abroad we don’t know. If abroad, Hannah will need a passport, I will need to renew mine and I’ll have to locate the others! But either way there are a few things we need to consider.
Location
Certain locations just aren’t going to be feasible with a little baby as we will need the pushchair, the car seat and a few other things. We managed Rome when Jack was nine months old but that was pretty easy except for certain landmarks. So location is something we will definitely need to consider – something family-friendly.
Paperwork and Insurance
I am the keeper of paperwork on holiday so I need to ensure I have somewhere to store it correctly. We always get travel insurance but we need to consider holiday insurance for pre existing medical conditions as we have had some diagnoses since our last holiday. The last thing we want is to be stuck somewhere because our medical conditions have caused problems and find out that the insurance we have doesn’t cover us!

Budget
Like everyone else, the cost of living crisis has hit us too – I’ve had a client reduce their hours right down and the blog work seems pretty sparse. Steve’s been doing what overtime he can but as you can imagine, the budget isn’t going to be too big this time around so it’s definitely something that needs to be considered.
Accommodation
We obviously are going to need a family-friendly hotel but something we have been considering is an all-inclusive family-friendly accommodation. Obviously budget is a factor but by going all-inclusive, we would free up some money we would otherwise use on food. I’d also look for somewhere that has activities and entertainment for the kids. We love going to Haven in the UK for the range of activities and entertainment they have for children and we would look for somewhere with a similar amount of activities this time around too.
Booking Ourselves
Whilst I know that booking with travel agents can often save some money, I also know from previous experience that Steve and I can get it cheaper. By utilising discount codes, cashback and other options, we have managed to get our holidays much cheaper in the past. We’ve also been lucky enough to use staff’s family and friends discount for some places. This is definitely something we would be looking into when thinking about booking our holiday this year.
