The Top 3 Places I Want To Visit In Italy

I’ve only been to Italy the once and that was ten years ago when I got engaged. However it has always been a country that fascinates me and I would love the opportunity to go back in the not too distant future. There are a few different places I would like to visit and I thought I’d share them with you today.

Have you been to Italy? What places in the country would you suggest are a must see?

Rome

I would love to go back to Rome. It is a wonderful city and I definitely don’t feel like I got to see everything I wanted to all those years ago. I’d also love to revisit the Vatican, Colosseum and Trevi Fountain as they are landmarks that really should be seen and visited more than once. I tend to use a website for booking my accommodation as it helps me to find the best deals. We did that when we last went and we will certainly do it again.

There is plenty I didn’t get to do when I was there so it would be nice to spend a little more time there and see things in more detail. I’d love to go back to the Vatican now that Jack is older and I wouldn’t have to carry him up all those steps to the top! I’d also love to visit the catacombs again as it was much more difficult back then with a baby. I also think Rome is a fascinating place for young children to visit – so much culture and history for them to learn about!

Florence

I have always wanted to visit Florence. My Dad told me many stories when I was younger about his work abroad and he always spoke of Florence fondly. I would love to see the different art and architecture that Florence has so much of and dip into the shops in the area too. Florence is small but beautiful and it is one place I truly hope I get to visit before I die.

Amalfi Coast

With such beautiful scenery, who wouldn’t want to visit the Amalfi Coast? It is little wonder so many people visit here every year. The landscape is absolutely gorgeous, the views spectacular and there is plenty to see and do whether that is visiting the various churches or museums or taking a dip in the beautiful waters. The coastal scenery truly isn’t to be missed.

These are the top three places I’d like to visit in Italy in the not too distant future but I’m not going to lie – there are many more places in the country I’d be keen on visiting too. The country is one that has always fascinated and inspired me and some of my favourite pieces of literature (both novels and plays) feature Italy as a backdrop (namely Romeo and Juliet, of course, and The Talented Mr Ripley).
