I don’t know where we would be without car finance. Ever since Steve’s car gave up the ghost in 2013, we had been using my mother in law’s little Peugeot 206 to get around. Totally not practical with a growing family and of course, it wasn’t our car.
After Steve realised his credit report had improved, we thought about looking into car finance and getting something a little more practical. After having a look at various dealerships and a car finance guide, we finally settled on a dealership close to Steve’s parents, talked to them about their options for financing and then finally had a look at some cars.
Car finance is so helpful for those of us who have a decent credit report but can’t necessarily wait around to save up the money for a new car. Saving for a new car amongst everything else we pay out for wasn’t that plausible as we’d need to have saved quite a bit each month to even get a car in the next couple of years. With Jack getting bigger, the little Peugeot 206 wasn’t suitable for our needs anymore so we needed to look for something bigger.
We finally settled on our Ford C-Max which is fab – plenty of leg room and LOTS of boot space (which was so helpful when we went on holiday with my parents!). We popped into the office, spoke to the manager, he called up a few different providers for a car finance loan and after signing some paperwork and paying just over £100 a month, the car was ours. It gets paid every month the day after Steve gets paid so it is never missed (same as our rent) and we are so grateful that car finance was there to save our bacon so to speak.
It gave us our independence back – no longer using someone else’s car, having more space to move around. I’m so glad we took a look at our credit reports that day and made a decision that has benefited our family over and over since we made it.
Would you ever consider car finance?
