I don’t wear much in the way of everyday jewellery – jewellery tends to have to mean something to me. I wear my engagement ring everyday, of course, and alternate between other meaningful bits of jewellery such as the locket my Dad gave me when I was younger, a necklace left to me by my Nan, a pregnancy Bola necklace. But sometimes we all need a new piece of jewellery and a brand that I’ve found who sell jewellery with plenty of meaning behind it is Henryka. I was sent the Cherry Amber & Silver Symbol of ‘Hope’ pendant with a silver chain to review so here are my thoughts on both the product and the range.
The pendant is exclusive to Henryka, in collaboration with Hereford Cathedral School and designed by Molly Phillips. It represents the symbol ‘hope’ in the form of a sun with silver detailing surrounding a circular cherry amber centre with a silver fine link chain (16.5″ unless a different chain length is specified). All products use 925 Silver and use Genuine Baltic Amber or simulated semi-precious stones where applicable. All products come in their own presentation box like the pendant I received below.
Let me first of all say just how beautiful this pendant is. As I mentioned I don’t wear much jewellery everyday except my engagement ring as my jewellery all has plenty of meaning and this is certainly no different. Hope is definitely my word of 2016 as it started off really bad but has turned into something amazing – after losing our baby last December, we will now be welcoming our rainbow baby next month. Work has picked up for both myself and Steve and 2017 in general just looks really hopeful and really great. With ‘hope’ being my word of 2016, this pendant certainly seems apt for me and as a silver fan over gold, Henryka jewellery is right up my street.
The stone is also the perfect colour for me – this pendant fits with any outfit you put it with. With a RRP of £29, it is affordable without compromising on quality and I have already received so many compliments from friends, family and even strangers when wearing it.
Henryka (Amber and Silver Jewellery) Ltd was established by Anna & T.D Emmett (a husband & wife duo) in November 2010. They wanted to create an exclusive self designed range of jewellery made from amber and silver. Based in Hereford, some of the design ideas have originated from colleges and schools in the area – Henryka have challenged students to come up with designs that can be taken from the drawing board to prototype to manufacture to sale, just like the pendant seen above, designed by Molly Phillips.
The brand have also been actively involved with introducing designs endorsed and promoted by the British Bee Keepers Association and the Herefordshire Wildlife Trust whilst supporting local charities and commissioning exclusive pieces for The Courtyard Theatre in Hereford and The Little Princess Trust. This certainly sounds a brand that are giving back to the community, doesn’t it?
After six years, Henryka are now becoming more known nationally and the dream is to have them become internationally recognised for their exclusive designs with the amber and silver being their USP. They certainly deserve it in my opinion.
Apart from this gorgeous pendant, Henryka also offer a fab range of other jewellery with some fab collections too. As a collector of brooches (even if I have lapsed recently), a few of the brooches have caught my eye such as the Amber, Silver & Turquoise Blue Tit Brooch for £85 or the Exotic Dragonfly Brooch for £89.
I’m extremely happy with my pendant as it really is me. The material is totally me – I’m definitely a silver over gold girl – the design is what I would opt for and it fits with everything you may wear without losing any of its meaning. I will certainly be picking up more from the range – and if you wanted to pick up some jewellery too, Henryka have kindly offered my readers a discount!
