I thought it was time for a little update post. I know I post my Life In A Lockdown posts which serve as a form of update, I suppose, but you don’t necessarily get to know much from those posts.
I wanted to introduce you to the two new additions to the family….Ash and Pikachu!

We had promised Jack that when we moved house, he could have a pet or two. Since we’ve been looking to move house for years, he has been waiting very patiently, having only had a few fish in that time! We finally had to move because our former landlady was selling up and we found this property who were happy for us to have pets.
After a lot of research and a lot of discussion as to what pet to get (we even had a pros and cons list to see what pet would suit us best), Ash and Pikachu came to live with us.

I am the only one in the house who has had previous experience with rats – and even then, they weren’t mine but my aunts! We had a lot to learn and it certainly has been a learning process but they seem to be settling in well. They’re super cute and very inquisitive, very intelligent too!

We opted for a large cage and filled it with plenty of toys and things to keep them busy! We even invested in a book about rats that we’ve been referring to if we have any questions!
Ash and Pikachu are settling into life in our home well now, it is almost like they have always been here. Do you have any pets?

I have had several pets since I was a child – guinea pigs, goldfish, and dogs. I never had rats for pets. But your Ash and Pikachu look really cute. I am sure they will get lots of loving care!
I bet he is so happy now after waiting so patiently, I always had pets growing up we always had a dog and I had guinea pigs and rabbits x
It’s always so exciting getting new pets, as there’s lots to learn and discover! Love the names too 🙂
I have a lot of pets; dogs, cats, goats, rabbits, and rats. They keep me company and make me feel so happy and loved. BTW Ash and Pikachu are so lovely.
Look at those cuties they are so adorable. Love the names as well.
Pets, great idea to get the book. Always good to be well informed, and have ease of access to relevant information at hand. Reminds me of being a child, and being treated by Mum to a new pet. Rat is a pet that I haven’t had. Can recall when one of the Coronation Street characters had a pet rat.
Hi Ash and Pikachu! Lovely pet and well done Jack on doing his research with his book!
He must be so excited to have pets now. I’ve never really had pets growing up other than fish but I’m keen to get kittens when we move and have the space x
My best pal at school had pet rats – they make lovely pets and are so inquisitive. Your boy looks thrilled to bits. have fun with Ash and Pikachu.
The names are so cute! I have had pets pretty much all my life. At the moment I have two old cats who live with my mom, and a 2 year old cat who lives with me.
I never knew rats can look that cute!! It is also wonderful that Jack has a book to learn more about his new pets. We totally need to get some pets for the kids, will be heaidng out next week to our local pet shop.
We always had pets when I was growing up, not just cats, dogs, fish, hamsters and rabbits, but also a tortoise, parrots, budgies, donkeys and goats.
My husband had never had any pets, but we had fish when we first moved in together as we weren’t really allowed pets in that flat. A couple of years later when we moved to a house that allowed pets we got cats and have had cats ever since.
When our kids were young we also had dogs, a rabbit, budgies, parakeets and hermit crabs. The crabs were my son’s idea, but I’m afraid I was glad when we “set them free” on a tropical beach, as they were never tame and could give you a nasty nip with their claws. I’m happy now with just cats as they are pretty low-maintenance but give us lots of affection.
I like all animals like this, but I would never take them again. I had a hamster that died last year. I’ve suffered a lot.
They are so cute. And pets are always a wonderful addition to the family.
What a cute pair! You sweet faces. Great pets or so I’ve heard? My dogs wouldn’t approve so no chance for me.
They are very cute and I am sure that you will enjoy having them as part of your family and in your home. enjoy xx
Rats are super smart animals. Your son looks over the moon. I bet he loves his new pets.
Ahh so cute I used to have a rat. We have a cat and a dog, I’d love to have more but it’s just the lack of time why we haven’t just yet
They are so cute love their names I bet Jack is thrilled with them.
Aww they look fantastic. I would love a wee critter for a family pet but yet to find one that’ll fit our family!
So cute! Although, we are not a big pet household I could be convinced by these two. Great names too!

They are very cute – and his little face just says it all. Hope you’ll have lots of lovely moments with the new pets.
Ah I had a rat when I was younger and I loved it, such friendly animals and super fun for kids
