This is the first post in a series all about my ‘side hustles’ to make extra income alongside freelancing.
Lately I have been reading a lot about matched betting and it is something that Steve and I are keen to explore this year. If you don’t know what matched betting it, it is a guaranteed way to make profit from bookmaker offers. I’ve been keeping up to date with Emma’s inspiring matched betting reports, and since July 2015 she has made over £6,500, completely tax free!
Although I was initially put off by the name, I soon found out that matched betting isn’t traditional gambling where you are betting on one outcome. I’m keen to make 2016 the year that we become more financially stable and I think that matched betting is the tool for us to achieve this!
What is matched betting
As I mentioned above, matched betting is a way of making use of the bookmaker offers to make guaranteed profit. You are never gambling, but rather using a system that means you will walk away with a profit from the free bets you receive. Matched Betting is so popular that it has even appeared in The Guardian!
How to get started
There are so many ways to get started with matched betting. We don’t feel confident going it alone, so to get started, Steve and I are considering taking out a trial with Profit Accumulator. The trial comes with everything we need to get going- access to training videos and two offers to start with. These two offers should see us get between £40 – £60 profit before we can decide to sign up for monthly or annual membership. The monthly membership is currently £22.99 and the annual membership works out at great value for just £150.
You will need around £60 to get started, but you’ll have this all back within less than a week! You need this money to start with so that you can place your qualifying bets and then get your free bets to use! You will also need about an hour spare to watch the videos, sign up and complete your first offer.
How much can you make
Profit Accumulator suggest that there is around £2,000 to be made just from the sign up offers. Once you have completed the sign up offers you can move on to the daily reload offers so there’s always something to be made! Emma has made her own matched betting Facebook group with over 140 members, and in December the members reported earnings from £503 all the way to over £1,300! Any amount like this would really help us to reach our 2016 goals!

I actually started matched betting before Christmas and made £300 in one month but that was starting from a tiny £100 or so bank which meant that I had to keep waiting for matches to play out. It’s easy and a decent way to make a bit more money on the side. It does get more tricky after the initial sign-up offers are done though.

I have never heard of Matched Betting. It sounds like something I would like to look into a little more however, as we need to try and improve our financial situation too

This does sound good – and I can see it works, but I tried it in December and it isn’t quite what it seems. You need a pot of a lot more than £60 to do it as much as you need to make proper money, and a lot of the money is tied up waiting for results etc. Emma is fantastic and so super helpful, but just be aware it is quite complex and you really need to put in the hours. I didn’t lose money – probably made a little bit, but I need to get back to it EVERY day and really keep on it. Kaz x

My partner and I can’t decide whether or not this is for us as I did see it on Emma’s site too recently. I am definitely thinking about it but we haven’t made up our minds yet. I was surprised to see that it was mentioned in The Guardian though! X

Great post, and matched betting is well worth exploring. I’m a member of PA, and also a member of Emma’s Facebook group. I dabbled in Aug 2015 and made around £500, I then stopped as I was going through a mortgage application, and was worried the ‘betting’ on my bank statement would affect things. It went through OK, and then I came back to matched betting in Nov 2015 – since then I’ve made £1100 now! January has been a slow month but it is worth getting on board!
It sounds so great, a little too good to be true! I think I’d be too scared to try it! xxx
